It's on. Strawn Gordon II this year. In the playoff's, only happened once before, 2008. Gordon won by 1 in the district championship in Gordon this year. Both have 45'd both opponents since.

After the Gordon game Shannon Hunt mentioned the 08 game in Mineral Wells. If it might be there, Aledo or Alvarado I think and the newly renovated Tarleton stadium. It is outstanding. I'd vote tor there (they're going D1). But it's a PPC thing, up to Coaches Lee and Reed. MW was way cool at the time, being new, and still is.

Mineral Wells Index is reporting that it will be Thanksgiving Day in Hico, coaches could not reach an agreement with MW ISD supposedly.

What I just heard too. Great facility I love. But not big enough for this. Get there early if you want a seat.

I agree not big enough I was there for last nights game and parking was pretty much at max capacity so if you don’t want to park 2 miles away get there early. Also the old rock bleachers are are hard and the first step for the older crowd can be a little tricky to step up on, I want to say I didn’t see a wheelchair accessibility to the visitors side but I’m not sure there was on the home side but regardless it’s a great venue for couple of old school rivalry to take place it will be fun to watch.

A few years ago I saw a rickety old fellow trying to make it up the old rock bleachers with a cup of hot coffee. On that second step he started teetering back, and if it hadn't been for a couple of guys who saw what was fixing to happen, the back of the old guys head would have been the first thing to hit that first step. They jumped up and caught him on his way back and helped him on up to his seat. The CCC boys weren't thinking about the old folks when they built it.

Shame of MWISD for not being more accommodating to these schools!!!! This is a big event in Palo Pinto County and deserves the attention it would draw being played in the county. Thanks HIco for stepping up and hosting on Thanksgiving NIght.

Does anyone know who's home in this one. I.E. who is in the aluminum bleachers vs the concrete ones?
BTW chance that rain could influence the turnout. Right now NWS is saying 60% Thursday falling to 30% through the day. High of 58 so in the 40's by game time. Could be cool and damp.

Eh I would have trouble shaming or even faulting them for not hosting on thanksgiving night .. I’m sure they are just letting their people enjoy the day with their families

From what I was told, MWISD was willing to host the game, but only if each team paid $4500, when they normally charge $3000. Then they also wanted the concession stand, and a cut of the gate. Hico offered to host for free, and it is appreciated. They are bringing in extra seating and overflow parking has been arranged.

Similar to Shotwell. Large playoff crowd nets under 20 bucks per school after all of the multitude of expenses are added up. That has been several years back.

Kudos to Hico and thanks. I guess the gate and more especially concessions might help fund multiple school projects thanks to the efforts of several volunteers in working off their Thanksgiving lunch (or just waiting until Friday). How many other opportunities does a small town get for a maybe multiple thousand dollar fund raiser? Local convenience stores appreciate the business too. Shane Mallory once told me a secret in one. Not to mention the restaurants.

MW's loss is Hico's gain.
