Higgins Coyotes

Was there a reason why Higgins ISD chose to consolidated into Canadian ISD instead of Darrouzett ISD? Did county officials decide this or did the residents of the town voted in favor for this resolution? Same distances from Higgins to Darrouzett or Canadian. About 36 miles. Could of help out the Longhorns in numbers this year.

They voted to go to Canadian. A lot of the children go to Follett. Also the president of the school board encouraged the people to vote to go to Canadian and then moved to Amarillo

Higgins is in Lipscomb County and they are very close to Oklahoma as well. Canadian made sense, its close. But I'd say the kids get to choose to go to Follett, Canadian, and Oklahoma. Doubt any of them go to Darouzette.

The UIL needs to explore the inclusion of those homeschool student-athletes that are established residents of the district into local UIL programs. Yes, I know the whole homeschooling concept is a can of worms for many six man fans but some of the UIL programs could use just a few more good athletes not just the Marines. How people view the schooling and education of their children has changed drastically in the last forty years and anticipating a potentially positive change would be good for both the small UIL schools and homeschooled athletes.

You have no idea about the 6man teams in the panhandle

I have long thought they should allow this...I know other states do
NM and Oklahoma schools do for sure. Oklahoma 8man (balko/hardesty) and NM 6 and 8 man. My uncle coached 6 man at Grady,NM and they played with San Jon one season and then a different school the next. I thought that was insane lol. Then they play each other as opponents in basketball and other sports. Teammates then rivals.

If they allowed this where say 2 D2 level schools can combine students for more participation or the opportunity to even have the chance to play a sport they never had the opportunity for? I'm all for it! Baseball would probably explode around the state for 1A.

Would this ruffle the feathers of the D1 schools if they weren't allowed to do this? Most likely, but hey more competition right?!

I really do wish this would happen.
