Many of the games are delayed to start later in the evening this week. When I was in school in the 1970s, high school non-district games started at 8 pm and district games at 7:30 pm. At some point in the 90s schools began having all their games at 7:30 pm. In the past ten years many schools decided to have games start even earlier at 7 pm.
The 8 pm start early in the season made sense during daylight savings allowing farmers time to finish harvesting, milking the cows, etc. and still to get to the game. I am curious if at one time the later start in September and part of October had anything to do with the late summer heat?
