It's different for every school and community. Some will talk about relationships. Some will talk about leadership. Some will talk about building character. Some will talk about building a winning tradition. And some will talk about raising expectations within the program. Bottom line, in order for a coach to find the sweet spot and experience true job security, he has to decide whether his expectations meet the expectations of the administration. At the end of the day, if those two visions don't match, you'll seldom find harmony/success. Also, you have to be careful of the ever-changing expectations from administrators, because with success, comes raised expectations.
