Finding that PERFECT fit

But seriously folks.
How long can this possibly take.
I'm sure the folks at ABC isd are great (but some/most aren't)
but after 2 weeks even they should have over 100 applicants.
Pick the first 3 good one's,
interview them,
hire one of them and be done by this Wed.
Then everyone has the rest of the summer
to figure out how they're gonna win state.
Oh wait.
You say ABC isd hasn't got a chance?
Then why waste all summer pouring over applications
looking for a perfect fit
(when there isn't such a thing, good, maybe)
when most ABC applicants
are just looking for some experience or a one and done.
I've never seen such an entity
that creates such a turnover
and is also so inept at replacing key personnel.
jus wondren'.

Dog ... got news for you. The "real world" (ie, business) operates the same way. I've seen companies leave sales territories vacant for as much as 2 years looking for that "perfect fit." In the meantime, they lose oodles of business and then when they hire the "perfect fit" they're disappointed that all those customers who left them because of the poor service don't rush back under the charms of that "perfect fit." And then, the "perfect fit" finds some greener pastures and moves on.

You're right. If you get several hundred resumes for the position ... and assuming you've described your position well and the requirements for it as well ... you should find at least a handful of qualified people to do the job.

But in many businesses (especially in big-time corporate America), you've promoted doofuses to your first-line manager positions, guys and gals who were one-hit wonders and excelled only at charming their next boss up the line.

Hmmmm... not really news to me but,
I must admit I have mostly industrial experience.

I've got most of my job offers from the one initial interview
and they have mostly worked out ok.
I'm just thinking that schools could take a lesson from industry.
Get past the subjective nature of their hire/fire process.
Realize that
untill the school(business) becomes a place
where quality people really want to be,
they will continue to struggle with finding that "fit".

You are absolutely correct! However, if every ISD took your advise, I wouldn't know what to do with my time after July 5th. So humor me one more time! July 16th is the LAST CHANCE to update the TEXAS SPORTS GUIDE. Our website was down over the 4th of July weekend, so we've extended the deadline. We've made some changes, so please read to the end.
