District Head-to-Head

Darrouzett vs Follett 7-11-0
Darrouzett vs Higgins 2-0-0
Darrouzett vs Lefors 1-3-0

Follett vs Higgins 25-7-0
Follett vs Lefors 28-8-1

Higgins vs Lefors 8-20-1

I wonder if Darrouzett will come back in 2014?

I strongly doubt it OBK I know they had a financial crisis a few years back that killed the program. Although they still have a JH team I doubt the HS team comes back for a few more years if ever.

There was talk for a while that it might not but I believe they have righted the ship for the time being and I think enrollment numbers are still good so we'll see I guess.

Forget Darouzett, they are not playing. You left out Fort Elliot who has started their program back up after a layoff of a couple of years. They are young and could be a force in a couple of years

Higgins was out for a year or 2 and they also have a young team. This district has the potential to be interesting once again in a couple of years. Higgins, Fort Elliot, and Lefors all have young teams.

I sure did forget Ft. Elliott.....

The only problem for the young teams is the team at the top of this district. Follett should take a step back next year based on their senior class but then again they should have taken a few steps back over the years and haven't so who knows what will happen there. Higgins, Lefors and Fort Elliott should indeed produce some good seasons in years to come but they'll have to knock the king off the mountain to do it.

Follett will indeed be a force for several years to come, but one thing to remember is that two years ago they were D1 and last year joined the D2 ranks, but barely. They have a healthy enrollment as I understand and barely made the D2 cut. As re alignment comes, they may again rejoin the D1 ranks . Miami may or may not come back to D2, as well as McLean. So with changing student populations, anything is possible. With re alignment, where will White Deer fit in all this.

With the UIL adding a 6A class I've heard the cut number might go up to 114.5 so if that's the case the landscape with change dramatically. White Deer I think will end up in a district with Miami, McLean, Lefors, Follett, Fort Elliott and Higgins if indeed the number goes up that much. Also though McLean could end up in a district with Valley, Kress, Nazareth, Hedley and Happy so a lot depends on what the final number ends up being but I wouldn't be shocked to see a lot of big districts in the panhandle due to the enrollment number.

Didn't Higgins quit playing for awhile?

Ya they were away for about 10 years in the high school ranks. If I remember correctly their last season was 2001 or 2002 and they came back to field a varsity team three years ago.

Silverton would have to fit in the McLean, Valley, Kress, Naz, Hedley, and Happy group then. That would give each dist 7 teams. that doesn,t give much pre dist play, but would be interesting for post play positioning.
