It’s that time of year where we have to break out the sliderules and figure out who is in and who is out. I am going to run down every UIL district and their possible playoff scenarios.
DIVISION I
District 1 – Happy is district champion. Miami plays at Nazareth to claim the second spot.
District 2 – Valley is district champion. Spur plays at Petersburg to determine the second place spot.
District 3 – Anton plays at Ropes for the two playoff spots.
District 4 – Borden County is the district champion. Klondike plays at Grady on Thursday for the runner-up position.
District 5 – Rankin sits in the driver’s seat. They host Garden City. Should Rankin win, they are the district champions and Marfa would get the second slot with a win over Fort Davis. Of course this could very easily turn into a three-way tie if Garden City wins. Of course this happened to this district about 10 years ago.
District 6 – Same kind of situation as above. A Water Valley win over visiting Robert Lee makes this easy. WV would be the champs and Sterling City would claim second place with a win over Veribest (who has not scored in district yet and is 0-9). Robert Lee makes a mess of this with a win over WV.
District 7 – Highland at Ira is for all the marbles in this one.
District 8 – Crowell is the district champion. Rotan plays at Knox City for a shot at the playoffs.
District 9 – Newcastle hosts Tioga for the district title.
District 10 – May is your district champion and Gordon is your runner-up.
District 11 – The most obvious result is Zephyr (hosting Lometa) and Santa Anna (travelling to Evant) both winning. This makes Zephyr the district champion and Santa Anna the runner-up. A Lometa win likely throws this into a three-way tie (assuming SA wins).
District 12 – Eden plays host to Rochelle for the district title.
District 13 – Blum is the district champion and has a week off to get healthy and scout. Aquilla travels to Kopperl. A win for the Cougars and they take the second slot. A loss and we likely get a three-way.
District 14 – Abbott is the district champion… unless they call to Coolidge, then it is a likely three-way scenario. An Abbott win and Milford takes the second slot with a win at home versus Penelope.
District 15 – Campbell is the district champion even if they lose. That would make Union Hill at Savoy the battle for second place.
District 16 – Chester, who has the week off, is hoping for Leverett’s Chapel to defeat Apple Springs, otherwise they have to sweat a three-way tie. An LC win give the Lions the district title and Chester is second.
DIVISION II
District 1 – Lefors hosts Follett for it all in this one.
District 2 – Groom plays host to McLean with it all on the line.
District 3 – Lazbuddie travels to Kress to play for it all.
District 4 – Southland hosts Wellman-Union. A win for Southland and they are district champions. Whitharral goes in the second position in this scenario. A loss and we have a three-way ties for first as Whitharral receives a forfeit from Wilson.
District 5 – A win by Balmorhea on the road Thursday in Sanderson and they are district champions and Sierra Blanca is runner-up. Otherwise we have the deaded three-way tie in a three team district.
District 6 – Buena Vista travels to Sands for the district title.
District 7 – This whole thing will play out on Thursday. Trent travels to Blackwell and if Blackwell wins, they win the district title and Loraine likely takes second. A Trent win does that three-way thing.
District 8 – Rising Star travels to Blanket to decide everything.
District 9 – Motley County heads to Guthrie to determine the district champion.
District 10 – Lueders-Avoca plays host to Rule. A win by L-A gives them the district title. Jayton heads to Paint Creek on Thursday and the Jaybirds claim second place with a win (and a L-A win). Rule can ruin the whole party with a win and force a three-way tie.
District 11 – Harrold goes to Chillicothe to figure out this whole district race.
District 12 – Forestburg gets a chance to prove themselves, as they host Throckmorton to determine the district title.
District 13 – Richland Springs hosts Cherokee. A Coyote win and they are district champions and Mullin claims the second spot. In the event Cherokee wins, they end up in a three-way tie.
District 14 – Jonesboro is the district champion. Walnut Springs travels to Iredell and a win by the Hornets would give them second place. A loss and we have a three-way tie for second place between Walnut Springs, Iredell and Ogelsby.
District 15 – Mt. Calm is the district champion and Trinidad is the second place team.
District 16 – Calvert is the district champion. High Island travels to Buckholts to determine second place.
