Coach Boyd Lowry, 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
He was a principal, coach, teacher and driver’s education instructor. He enjoyed working with kids for over 31 years of his life. He was inducted into the six-man coaches association hall of fame in 2001. He was also a WWII Air Force veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Lowry was the head coach at Gordon from 1964-1977. During that time he compiled an 89-41 record and led the Longhorns to the regional championship in 1967 and to a district championship in 1974.
He was also the coach of the East team in the Six-Man All-Star game, held in Abilene, in 1966.
