Well..here we are at the last non-district game against our old rival..the High Island Cardinals. History shows the Cardinals have a slight advantage in wins against the Jackets, leading by about 6 games.
Last year was a good one. A great defensive game by the Jackets caused turnovers that were key in the Jackets' victory of 38-31 on the Cardinals home turf. This time the Cardinals fly into the Jackets' nest. Can the CHS Yellowjackets bring out a dominant defense against a competitive Cardinal offense? Or can the Cardinals swoop in and steal Homecoming from the Purple Swarm? The Jackets are ready to sting and keep the season untarnished, but it will take a concerted effort on both offense and defense to pull this one out because those Red Birds are always pretty pesky when it comes to competition between the two. If our defense plays to their potential I think it's a good win for the Jackets. But if we miss tackles like we missed with Oakwood, it could be a nail biter.
