There's been a ton of talk on a few separate threads about rankings. I have been agreeing with much of the talk. I have trying to figure out what is up. Honestly a few of the results (in the rankings) did not make sense. They weren't way off but they just didn't jibe with what I know I have written over the years into the rankings.

During the season, I tend to have my head down and just move everything forward.

Over the last day I decided to check the files in detail. The biggest thing I realized is that I am an idiot. For at least two weeks I have loaded the wrong file.

Long story short, when I run the program, I actually run several different algorithms at once. This is mostly to experiment with some numbers. I don't look at all of the files that often, but still run them all...

Somewhere a few weeks ago I must've renamed some of the files during some editing.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. crap.

Oh well. I have fixed the last two weeks, although I think the issue goes back about 4 weeks...

Now you still may not agree with everything, but I think things are a bit better.

Granger, Thank you again for for all your work throughout the season, including catching and admitting the snafu. It was fun to see Cedar Park Summit ranked ahead of Veritas in TAPPS DIV II, if only briefly, but your correction brings the rankings back to about where they should be. THANK YOU!

Why are people worried about rankings at the end of the year anyway? In private school you know who the best teams are and in UIL you will know soon enough...

Bluecats, If all you care about is how you finished in your division, then you do not need rankings. But if you want to compare how good you are in the universe of all the teams of the state, then the rankings are at least a good place to begin the conversation.

Granger, thanks for getting to the bottom of this. I knew that there must be some explanation. Clearly you saw it and knew that there was a problem. To those who ignorantly mocked and viewed the questions as whining, I have nothing to say.

Dang, and I thought I had actually accomplished something by edging you out on the pic em. Guess I gotta throw an asterisk up on that win.

I'll never admit how I know this other than to say I once had a winter beard, but, the smell of burning hair is unique, and disgusting. Thanks Guru for keeping the site up and running another year. I know it's a lot of work no one pay's you for, a labor of love so to speak. The rankings always give us something to joust about.

LOL

I am guessing the picks were about the same as before. More had to do with teams after they lost

Granger, keep up the great work you do for this great game of six-man football. Its easy for people to Monday Morning QB everything until they have to do it themselves.

Thank you on behalf of all the kids and coaches in six-man football.
