Can Craig James gripe about Coach Leach's ethics?

B.E., I have no problems with a parent trying to protect their kid. I do have a problem with a guy big-shotting and rail-roading a coach. ESPN has reported on e-mails they have gotten from the tech system about how the James kid has a lack of effort and a sense of entitlement. This is from before the "concussion". The team Dr., admittedly an employee of Leach, has said that none of Leach's actions were harmful to the kid. The "electrical closet" was an area were visiting coaches often gave post-game interviews. Tech may have a lot more on Leach which led to this firing, but why haven't they released it? Wouldn't it make more sense to get all out in the open immediately? This whole deal stinks to high heaven. I've said it elsewhere, and I'll say it again. Craig James started his career by destroying a college program and he's working on winding it up by destroying another one.
 
I understand your points, believe me. Many of us have experienced similar situations. And I agree it appears to be at the minimum an abuse of power.
Where's the christian love and grace, especially this time of year?

Hire a coach with class like Mack Brown at Texas, got to BCS bowls, win some national championships. These three things were something that Leach was never able to accomplish in his time at Tech. He did turn the program around and was a great recruiter, but it was well documented about how he chose his cavalier attitude over common sense on more occassion than one. I don't feel the James family acted wrong, but we will see. Craig James has every right to question what happened to his son. This is not what got Leach fired, Meyers was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Leach was not a Program PR person/Head coach that a strong program needs. (The elite programs have Brown in Texas, Saban in Alabama, and Meyer (formerly at Florida) when do you ever hear about these guys causing problems with their athletic directors or mistreating a player? Where there is fire there is smoke, Leach may not be at fault 100% but there is something to this ordeal, it will come out soon.

Are you talking about things coming out like the e-mails the Dallas Morning News has where the Tech admin was talking about firing Leach at the end of this year when they were negotiating his contract last year?

Evidently there are several things coming to light, the contract disputes last year were just the tip of the iceberg. The James incident just got the ball rolling further. Leach was asked for a letter of apology by the athletic director and chancellor at Tech for the James incident or be fired, in turn Leach sued Tech . According to the chancellor at Tech he stated on ESPN over the air, that he has never dealt with a man who was as stubborn as Leach was and who refused to have help and would not listen to reason (this according to the chancellor has been an ongoing thing, not just the James incident). Leach then sued his boss, which the chancellor commented that "you just don't do that to your boss". Leach then proceeded to tell ESPN in a statement that the administration has fabricated lies against him in a conspiracy to get him fired. Instead of just stepping out with class and trying to sell the fact that he got a raw deal, which he may have, he sued and blasted the university he worked for. I just don't understand this guy, he is unbelievably talented, recruited extremely well, and had a successful program. None of us will ever know the complete story, I just don't agree with suing your boss and blasting the place that afforded you the opportunity to be successful.
 
Any man will step up to protect his children, if he doesn't he's a piece of s@%t. so many things have come across with the whole incident. Some say the electrical closet that he was placed in was were the visiting coaches do there press confrences, on espn this morning they were showing the camera phone video taken by C james boy,and to be honest it didn't look a thing like the area were they confrences are held.
Mike Leach like so many have said has brought alot of this on himself, with his comments during press confrences,and the accusations towards players and by becoming a control freak in the lives of his players as some have reported.
teh chancellor claims he was given every oppurtunity support himself and to remain the Head ball coach.But the man has placed himself on a pedastal and if finally tumbled, Tech will search for a new coach hopefully one with a bit more class,and I hope they do not hire within the ranks of the current staff.
Reading what the current football team players are saying it seems like several of them are glad he's gone.

I would like to say... thank you to Coach Mike Leach.... for taking exception to a kid trying to ride in on daddy's fame/influence, and telling the kid if your going to act like a diva.... do it from a closet where noone can see you except you.
Next, I would like to question the ethics of TT. How can you say all of these negative things about a man who YOU entered into a long term contract with and decided to extend his contract when you had the option to "sack up" and let the guy go if you didnt want him there. It would in my opinion have been unwise after the best season in school history, but could it look much worse than this. Also on this point Gerald Myers is a fool who was a decent basketball coach/terrible AD... who has single-handedly undermined the Texas Tech athletic program... by running off the BBall coach before B. Knight(his name escapes me) as well as Marsha Sharp(as I see it) apparently TT should take a look at the Athletic offices and look for the guy barricaded in his office trying to protect his job... by firing any coach who threatens his legacy as successful at Texas Tech..... I would like to question craig james parenting... parents of all people know how their children act/behave. He must know that his child is a juvenile primmidonna. I would like to think most parents in this world would accept the fact that coaches have the right to single out, and discipline players who think they are different or more special than other players... did coach leach cross the line...perhaps, either way this will wind up making tech and the james family look bad and in my opinion.....THEY GET WHAT THEY DESERVE...

You know, back when I was a kid, Dad all ways told me the teachers/coaches were right. If I got in trouble at school, Dad made it pretty well known that the teachers/coaches were to do all they needed to in order to get me to straighten up. He also made it pretty well known that he would not interfere. He also taught me not to whine, complain or expect him to do anything about the way they handled their jobs. My role was to shut-up and work harder. That isn't taught much any more, is it?

Raising a kid like that these days qualifies as child abuse.............
 
In my experience there has always been a few kids and parents who would not tow the line like every body else, and those kids and parents would defend each other right or wrong and as the case might be they were usually the ones in the wrong. In my opinion NO PARENT has the RIGHT to question a coach/teacher's decisions UNLESS those decisions directly endanger the child... ie child abuse....i also vote that we reinstitute corporal punishment in the school... start whippin some a$$ and these kids will straighten up quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Nothing like the principal's or coach's paddle to straighten up a boy......I was kinda slow and it took three times.....
 
Yeah, Bearkat, I got a few of those whuppins' when I was in school at Rochelle. Our Principle Ronnie Nowlin was a small guy, only 5'19" (thats 6'7"), and he could swing a board. You do that now and you might go to jail.
 
did he take his pipe out of his mouth when he busted you? He was one of the nicest people I ever met. His wife was very nice also. (May she rest in peace, at least I think she passed)
 
You still have the right to swat kids today, US Supreme Court has ruled on it more than once and always in the favor of the teachers. That said if you do swat a kid I would be more than surprised if you still had a job afterwards.
