Bethel vs. Immanuel

It has been a long time since El Paso has hosted the potential district championship game in El Paso between two El Paso teams.

The last time two EP teams met was in 1997 when Faith Christian and Jesus Chapel played for the TCAL Western District Championship. Jesus Chapel won and went on to win TCAL state that year.

This is a first for both teams. It should be the best game of the year for EP teams. Immanuel is led by a group of strong players that have played with each other since 8th grade or before. Bethel is led by a group of strong players that have played together since 6th grade.

Immanuel's coach is in his second year as a varsity head coach, but has an impressive resume' of fierce competitiveness (Coach O'Leary was the EP Times prep player of the year when he was a senior at ICS) and success. Bethel's coach is an older and wily veteran who has seen several state championship games and won a few as well.

How about you all weigh in a little ....

Bethel's speed vs Immanuel's strength ??!!??

Speed vs. strength? Yes Bethel has speed but did anybody but me see the 2 players that Bethel has rushing on defense? It is almost like they are brothers (he he he) they worked well together and had the quarterback either running backward or trying to get rid of the ball to early. So speed or strength well I will have to go with speed (but do realize that in that speed we have strength)

I must admit this has potential to be a great game. My head is picking Immanuel and my heart is picking Bethel. I don't think that Bethel has had any success in their football program. It would be nice to them win on Saturday. If they don't, having the district champs in El Paso will be ok.
