Decimate is the most poorly used word in the English language. It really means reduce by 1/10. It comes from Latin and was created by the old Roman legions. A unit of a legion that displayed cowardice or poor performance in battle would be subject to decimation, where it would line up and every tenth man would be killed.

Throck did not decimate WV, they crushed them.
