6 on 6 Passing League Rules

Sorry for the delay on these ... this is what we use at our 6 on 6 ...

6 ON 6 FALCON STYLE


RULES:

1. The Playing Field will be 45 yards long with cones set at the 45, 30 and 15 yard lines. First Downs are accomplished by passing the cones.
2. The Offensive Team has three (3) downs to get a First Down unless they are on or inside the 15 yard line cone. Inside the 15 yard line cone, they have four (4) downs to score.
3. If the Offensive Team fails to achieve a first down, the Defensive Team will become the Offensive Team and take possession of the ball at the 45 yard line.
4. All possessions begin from the 45 yard line. Both teams will go the same direction towards the End Zone.
5. Each Team will consist of six players: A Quarterback, A Center, and Four (4) other players who may line up anywhere as long as they are onsides and three players are on the Line of Scrimmage.
6. When the ball is snapped, the Defensive Team must wait three (3) seconds before rushing the Quarterback. The Quarterback may not cross the Line of Scrimmage and is down when touched (it is recommended that one of the game officials make the “thousand-one, thousand-two, thousand-three” count or can drop a towel when the Defensive Team may cross the Line of Scrimmage). The ball may only be advanced by a forward pass.
7. The ball is dead anytime it hits the ground, that includes a fumbled snap from center.
8. There is no downfield blocking allowed after the catch. If the Defensive Team intercepts a pass, they may run it back and attempt to score, but no blocking is allowed.
9. A player is down when touched.
10. The game will consist of two eighteen (18) minute halves, with 5 minutes between halves. If there are multiple games, they should be scheduled to start and end at the same time. A horn will sound to end the half and the game.
11. A touchdown is worth 6 points. After a team has scored, it may elect to go for 1 point on a play from scrimmage starting at the 5 yard line or for 2 points on a play from scrimmage starting at the 10 yard line.
12. Penalties include: 5 yards – Offsides, Illegal procedure, Delay of game; 10 yards – Pass Interference, Offensive player who uses his hands to prevent a Defensive player from tagging him ; 15 yards – Tackling, Unsportsmanlike conduct.
13. Each game shall have two officials who should be coaches from non-participating teams.
14. Each team is responsible for supplying one football for the game.
15. Each team must have two sets of jerseys, each set a different color. Scrimmage vests may be worn.
16. Coaches are expected to follow the rules of their league (UIL, TAPPS, etc.) concerning summer league participation and coaching.
