Perhaps the absence of statistical leaders from Richland Springs is an indication of an overall well-balanced team?........................ Just a thought.........

And, Just Saying, Tyler Ethridge did it. But, just saying, a player has to handle the ball almost every down in a half game situation in order to achieve it. I saw where it was mentioned before to these "records keepers" to include the number of quarters played in order to show true performances.

But it seems like some of these ......................................................... Just Saying....
And by the way, Lance Morris's and Tyler's records would be much more meaningful if actual quarters played was shown. And some of the other stars might not shine quite as bright. Just sayin........

Ive always said I like the idea of quarters being played as a stats...now tell me how many quarters Tyler Ethridge and Lance Morris played or Bryan Holems of May in 1977 or Bryan Griffin of Mozelle in 1983...

While it is a great idea to include quarters played and as Ive said even minutes played as a stats, I think people don't realize how extremely hard it is to get ANY stats at all, especially from the 80s and 70s and later well just forget about it. So making up a new stat and then trying to research it out, I dont think you have any clue how hard it is to go back and apply it, you would have to know the exact time each game ended and unless you have every game film it is next to impossible.

Heck go back and tell me how many quarters of play Union Hills' Gabe Nelson has this season...my point being it is info that is hard to get.

the real "record keepers" are the coaches and if they dont want to keep it or share it is extremely hard to get it.

and if by "these record keepers" you are referring to me...Im the only one trying to gather, collect, organize and save this and been doing it for 10 years, Ive had some great help from many people and sources, and I have always applied strict historical research principals and practices to it (to the anger of a coach or two I will point out) as that is what my degree is in and I have one published research paper and working on another along with a book (if your quotes around "records keeper" were an attempt at some sort of insult there is my bonafides ).

Records are great to have, but the question I have are they as accurate as they are proclaimed to be. Is an adult keeping them during a ball game, or a student manager, or a helping parent, etc. I appreciate Leman doing all this work to have some records to look back on, but the records are only as good as the stat person writing them down during a game. It's a cumbersome task.

that is very true and an ever pain in the side of people who take up this endeavor no dout, every week I find things that dont make sense and have to get a hold of coaches to help correct an error, I know they arent perfect and there probably are some errors but I try my best to catch them or cross check info.

An example of this is for a few years now I have thought the most passing TDs in a season was 89 set by the Ft Hancock QB in 1986, my source was the 1987 Dave Campbell's magazine that said he threw for 89 TDs and ran for 28 TDs in 1986. Well until a few months ago I didnt have the 1986 full Ft Hancock schedule and when I finally got every game and every score from that season I saw that it was impossible for him to have threw 89 TDs and rushed for 28 TDs, and very unlikely to just have thrown 89 TDs as I had a few newspaper articles from those games to cross check with. It was simple math: (89+28) x 6 = 702 points scored, not counting extra points or any other TDs he didnt have a hand in. the 1986 Ft Hancock team the whole season scored 622 points...so it was impossible and had to be some sort of misprint or mistake in the Dave Campbell's magazine...so I deleted him off the list.

I have helped Leman for 2 or 3 years. Official stats from the coach can get a kid on the list, but if another reputable source has something he will spend countless hours finding multiple sources to get a true number. Anyone questioning his records lists needs to invest the time to prove him wrong.

bumping this again asking for help finishing out the season...last call basically!
