I wasn't saying someone who played or Coached 11 man couldn't learn the game. I'd read before that Burkhart came from 11 man and I believe I've read the same about Coach Crawford at Abbott. And, Coach Lee from Stawn went to highschool in Crane and if I remember right he played college ball, thus both 11 man. If you add Coach Jones to that it add's up to a bunch of State Championships and enough playoff wins to make many a sixman born and bread Coach jealous.
I was saying a 11 man Coach completely unfamiliar with six man, not given a year or two to learn, could have a difficult time his first year or two.
I've also already been proven wrong about Gorman 45 ing everybody from there on out. As has been pointed out in addition to giving up 48 last week to Throck (while they did 45 them) they gave up 46 last night and did not win by 45. Maybe May and Gordon really do have a chance. Not much D, if you get to the playoff's, can be a real problem when you encounter a team that can match you score for score. They ma not make as deep a run as I figured.

I'm curious. They didn't get 45'd. They have lost one game. They have given up a lot of points and obviously need to improve on defense. They had a great 1st year. 45'd a 10 win team from last year to start this year even though that team is struggling this year too. Have they had any injuries, lost kids to grades or quitting?

"This matchup was on the radar as a possible Big Country Game of the Week for some time. But with Gorman slipping in a 56-16 loss to Stephenville Faith a week ago, it fell a few rungs.
Big key here: Gorman, despite its record, is consistently giving up a lot of points. To date, the Panthers have been hit for 50 points per game on average, while scoring 66 per night.
Zephyr, on the other hand, has one of the better six-man defenses in the area, limiting three straight opponents to 12 points or less, including a 56-0 shutout of Santa Anna on Sept. 16.
Defensive stops will gradually give the Bulldogs a sizable edge."

Finally, the week I've been waiting for. A lot of hype about how good Gorman is. I have never thought they were near as good as some people thought. This week they find out where they rank. I think the Bulldogs walk away with this one pretty handedly, that is if there's ever coach can find his CanOpener. Because he lost it several weeks ago.

Moody, Norman lead Zephyr Bulldogs past Gorman Panthers

GORMAN—"Nicholas Moody ran for 226 yards and three touchdowns and Bishop Norman had 169 yards and three scores on the ground as the Zephyr Bulldogs took a 66-46 win over Gorman at Brogdon Field on Friday night.
The duo accounted for 395 of the Bulldogs 510 offensive yards as Zephyr improved to 6-1 on the season heading into district play.
"I knew coming in that this was going to be one heck of a football game," Zephyr coach Shannon Williams said. "Hats off to Gorman because they came out ready to play."
Williams was proud of the job that Moody did, while also praising Norman who lined up at running back for the first time in several weeks.
"Nic's been our running back since Bishop got hurt in the first game of the year and has stepped up," he said. "I wanted to get Bishop some reps so that we can have him in district, but our offensive line did a fantastic job of blocking."
Gorman, which finished with 438 yards of offense, fell to 5-2 with the loss.
"The kids played tough and we had a couple of penalties that hurt," Gorman coach Brent Williamson said. "We had some breaks that didn't go our way and that's the difference in the ballgame."
The Bulldogs won the coin toss and elected to receive and saw their opening drive end on a fumble by Norman at the Gorman 35.
Norman appeared to redeem himself with a big sack on third down on the ensuing Gorman possession, but Trent Padron hit Garrett Bell on 4th-and-21 for a 34-yard touchdown and an 8-0 lead for the Panthers with 6:35 left in the opening quarter.
Zephyr answered in just four plays with Nicholas Moody going 24 yards through the heart of the Gorman defense to tie the game up at 8-8.
Ismael Herrera had a 60-yard touchdown run wiped out due to a penalty after the kickoff, but scored from 35 yards out two plays later as the Panthers took a 16-8 lead.
"On something like that, a kid runs 60 yards and it's hard for him to turn around and do it again," said Williamson.
Gorman then recovered an onside kick, but a slew of penalties stalled the Panthers offense and Zephyr took over at its own 22.
Norman broke free for a 58-yard touchdown run on the first offensive play to knot the game at 16-16 with 1:48 left in the first quarter.
Zephyr took the lead with 7:41 left in the half on a 30-yard touchdown catch by Devin Williams, but Herrera had a touchdown catch from 28 yards out to put Gorman back up 24-22.
Norman answered with a 30-yard pass before scoring from 26 yards out on the next play before the extra point was blocked to make it 28-24 Zephyr with 4:59 left in the first half.
After Gorman went three-and-out, Norman picked up another touchdown from 25 yards out but Herrera broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run just 10 seconds later making it 34-32 with 2:31 left in the half.
The teams traded third quarter touchdowns with Williams scoring on an 18-yard catch and Sam Rainey getting a 25-yard touchdown catch for the Panthers.
Moody picked up his second score of the night on the ensuing drive as he capped off a nine-play possession by scoring up the middle from 10 yards out for a 58-40 lead.
The Panthers methodically pounded the ball with Ricardo Olvera scoring from two yards out, but Moody answered quickly with his third touchdown of the night to make it 66-46 with 5:37 left."
