So, nothing changed. People still can't go because of graduation and end of semester exams. Oh well, at least the kids aren't punished.

By the way, was Coach Burger's question ever answered? How are athletes selected?

Due to Howard Payne renovating their dorms we had to keep this date. The only option we had for lodging the student athletes was the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment. The only date they had available was the first week in June. I am very sorry for any inconvenience, but this is the only option we have this year. I also did not want to interfere with the Brazos Bowl. The coaches who are nominated to coach the All-Star Game will be picking the players. If you would like to nominate someone, you may contact that coach. I am working on Basketball coaches for the girls and boys. The football Public will be Ty Keith from Happy, Private will be Coach Arrufat from Boerne Geneva. These games were awesome last year and we are going to try and make it better. It was a honor to have Don Hardin's family at the game. He will always be one of sixman football greatest fans and sports writer. I am very sorry that this effects some schools that graduate the first week in June. Howard Payne reassured me they would love to have us back next year. It is very hard to make everyone happy. There will be more details soon.

As Don Hardin would say "Good Football To You"

I'd like to start off by thanking Coach Burkhart for selecting me to coach this game. I have helped out with it for multiple years when it was at Garden City, and was honored to get to coach it this year. I am also appreciative of my fiancé who is going to allow me to do this a week before our wedding this summer. It's a truly blessed time in my life because I am getting married and I get the honor to coach two all-star games as well. I don't know what I have done to deserve this as I know many more deserving and better coaches out there, but proudly accept.

As far as the selection process goes, it is difficult to choose the 16 best players from the public school side. There will be a lot of great players I don't choose. It has no bearing on their ability. With that in mind, I'm going to select the 16 players I feel that will allow the public schools to win the game and fit within what I like to do. I have already started to compile a list and have already called and confirmed some players. We will release them when the time is right.

Please do not hesitate to nominate a player, but also keep in mind that this is a difficult process and just because you nominate them does not mean they'll be selected. If you would like to back up your nomination with film, that would be even better. Allows me an opportunity to watch your player in action.

Tye Keith

Good afternoon all, many of you may not know me as I am relatively new to the 6-man world (and I do my best to stay off the message boards throughout the year!). My name is Matt Arrufat from Boerne Geneva, and my staff and I humbly accepted Coach Burkhart's invitation to coach the Private school team this summer.

I recently completed my second season as head coach of Boerne Geneva, my third year in the coaching profession. Our program has seen great success recently, for several reasons other than my coaching. Our school graduated its first class in 2011, and has fielded a Varsity squad for 5 years now. The average number of boys in our high school at the last realignment was 71, 23 of which came out for the team last year. We are a school located in a popular/growing city, and the majority of the boys are from strong Christian families. The educational requirements at the school have left me with very intelligent/coachable players. The administration has been on board with our program, and understands the value of athletics in our kids lives. Finally, my AD, Scott Stolle, has surrounded me with a young, hungry and capable staff. My team has enjoyed back to back undefeated regular seasons before getting thumped at State by Coach Helton's Covenant boys the last two years. We lose 3 offensive starters and 2 defensive starters to graduation this year... but welcome one of the most talented freshman class we've ever had this coming year. I can’t tell you how honored I am not only to coach my Geneva boys, but to coach the best private school boys in TX at this all-star game. It sounds hokie, but know that I will coach my butt off, and do my best to represent for all the great private school coaches out there. I read above that Coach Keith feels like the luckiest guy in the world... well make it two guys in that boat.

As mentioned above, my staff and I will be responsible for assembling a team with 16 boys that we feel give us the best chance to beat the Public boys. We will start off our search by reaching out to many of the boys that were voted onto the All-State team. If you coached a private school player that you feel is one of the 16 best in the state, please reach out to me. Geneva is on Hudl, so please send film if possible. As a reminder, the cost if selected is $250, and the player would need to be free for practice the week prior to the game. You can reach me by email at: [email protected]

Thanks again, I’m looking forward to a great game.
