Just got this from Billy Helm today ... I'm sure there will be additions and changes, as Billy, Rev. Crain and the T-CAL folks have been very agresssive in building their league. Will note changes as they occur.

I've got a couple questions:
1. Could El Paso Faith Christian be moved from at large to district 1. District 1 only has 2 teams so that seems like it would work.
2. This is just for fun, but what would ya'll think the toughest districts in D1 and D2 are?

Great questions! However, I will only try and answer the first one!

This years alignments were done by committee. TCAL Football now has a District Alignment and Rules Committee (DARC) that was put together by the TCAL Football Commissioner and approved by the Executive Board. There are seven coaches from around the state on this committee. These coaches represent the private school, home school and charter school. We (DARC) have also put together a 22 page TCAL Football Policy and Procedure that will seek approval by the Executive Board in the weeks to come.

Now to answer your question! TCAL believes we will have growth in the west and upper northern regions in 2012. For 2011, we are potentially looking into at least two "At Large" playoffs spots for Faith and DI District 1...if they have a season worthy of a playoff spot. District 1 would obviously send 1 team for sure. We did not want to make teams travel that distance if there was another option. EPF was happy to accept our 1st year proposal and looks forward to TCAL growth in their area.

The DARC is working on the "Post Season" portion of our P&P and should have complete by the end of March. By the way...TCAL Post Season will begin week 10. There will be four weeks (10,11,12 &13) of football playoffs with the State Games played on Saturday, November 26. The All State Game (Juniors and Seniors) will be played on Saturday, December 3. We are excited to finally have a healthy playoff system! PTL!

We are working with several TCAL schools (non-football) that are planning to play football in 2012. This will hopefully fill our current districts and grow a few more. We now have 31 teams playing football. Corsicana Agape just confirmed they will play their first JV schedule in 2011.

TCAL is working very hard to solve any past issues (growing pains) and potential issues that could arise in the future. If you are not in TCAL and are interested in receiving a copy of our Policies and Procedures, please let me know and I will send you a copy after they are approved. They will also be available on our new web site hopefully by the end of the month.

Thanks for your questions!

We will confirm post season brackets in the next few weeks. Probably a 12 team playoff for both divisions.

I will post as soon as it is confirmed.

Thanks!

TCAL Revision
32 teams total. There will be no additions to district or post season play. The new TCAL teams will be added to the 2012 alignment.
