Wylie Prep

Call me slow to the party, but when did Coach Uland take over at Wylie Prep? Who was the former coach there and did they run him off to hire Uhland? Not to sound cold, but I thought Coach Uhland had health issues?

The former Coach is Brad Schupbach. Can't speak to any of that other stuff other than to say that I am blessed to have hired Coach Schupbach at Dallas Lutheran. Last year Coach Schupbach served as my Head Middle School Coach as we were moving our middle school program to six-man. He did a great job for us. This year, Coach Schupbach will serve as my Defensive Coordinator on the varsity level as we move our varsity to six-man in 2015.

I think he sat out the 2012 season when he retired from Greenville Christian, but came back to Wylie Prep for 2013 and 2014 and beyond. Couldn't keep him away, because I do remember seeing him at Waco Parkview when Dallas Covenant and Seguin Lifegate had separate quarterfinal playoff games.

Like I said, when Larry Uland started coaching, I was just coming out of diapers. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still coaching when I start having to wear them again.

Truth be told, I personally called Coach Uland after I found out his health issues was not keeping him away from football and hired him to take over as head coach. Demoting myself to DC. In seven years as AD and head coach the program had grown and needed a full time coach. Until I retire from the fire dept. I will enjoy coaching under another coach. I took the opportunity that many passed up and learned from a great man and friend!

I look forward to coaching under Coach Bronkhorst at Dallas Lutheran and continue spreading God's word through football!

I think that's all that needs to be said about that.

I coach at Carrollton Christian, and we played Wylie Prep opening game in 2013. It was Coach Uland's first game at Wylie Prep, and my first game as a Head Coach. They knew what we were going to do before we did it, was the most well prepared team I have ever coached against.
