Does anyone have any news/commentary on how the scrimmage went? Three pretty good teams out there - got to be something of interest to mention.
 
Ol' Texman and Joe had a brief discussion on Grady (playing vanilla) and Rankin (being a beast) but nothing was mentioned about WV. Would be nice to know more though...
 
Yeah, Rankin is ALWAYS a beast. A few years ago when Garden City was real tough and Ft. Davis was more of a powerhouse it was a real dogfight in that district. Those two and Rankin always beating the crap out of each other and then taking it out on the WV. Can't say I really miss those days very much. How are those Bulldogs looking? Tough as usual I assume. Those are some pretty big Morris shoes to fill but I reckon his brother is up to the challenge.
 
Rankin always brings it year in and year out! Ira and Rankin always have a battle when they play. To be honest I didn't make the Bulldog scrimmage Friday do to work but I will be at this weeks scrimmage and can tell you more. I did hear the Bulldogs looked tough with some new looks but that's about all I can tell ya.

Good is one thing but how did they stack up against Rankin? That's about as good a measuring stick as you're going to find around here.
 
Looked to me the first set of plays WV was running tight and struggled moving at first. Then they went to their passing attack and I think they basically scored at will. For us, it was about what I expected, a wake up call. I think we can compete, but our boys needed a lesson in humility. Rankin, WV, Ira, and Throck will battle hard. To early to call though but I think any one of those four will be playing Valley for Semi's again!
 
Yep, Region II is stacked again. I'm a WV fan but, after last year, I'm not betting against T-Rock. Funny, T-Rock and Ira both lose a stud player and replace 'em with the kid brother. Yikes!!
 
From my count WV beat Grady in the controlled scrimmage (20 plays from the 30) 7-0. Then beat Rankin 7-2 in same scenario. In the full field version WV beat Grady 5-1 and Rankin didn't play.
