TRY WEB-CAM/VIDEO INTERVIEWING

For all the movers and shakers out there,
consider using Skype or even your Facebook page
to do first interviews.
Then,
If both parties are feelin it,
have the candidate come in personally
and bring the family.

Shouldn't educators be looking for new best practices?

Doggy you kind of remind me of Ole John the Baptist................ "A voice crying in the wilderness".......
Seriously you are really on to something with the "Remote Interview Process". How do you like that for an official sounding name?
Several state-wide agencies have managed to cut travel expenses by utilizing these methods for meetings, trainings etc.
With Facetime and an iPad or iPhone or any other traditional messaging services, this can really work.
Let's see just how serious school admins are about conserving the taxpayer's money.

So true!
Plus,
there's been such a big push from TEA
to use more technology in the classroom,
and be more hands on in the learning process.
It's driving me crazy that more folks
don't take advantage of tech stuff.
Why isn't every school website chock full of pictures and success stories?
I look at a lot of school sites.
You get a feel for a school by going to their site
in the same way administrators get a feel for a job applicant by the stuff they send in.
Few teachers even know how to use their pages?
Do you know who would like to take care of that little task
instead of doing that boring worksheet?
Guess. Nope, guess again.
Right, your students.
Setting up a Skype account should be a pretty easy "A".
Even Smokey could prolly get at least a C-.
jus sayin'.
