Top DAWG...WHO

With the upcoming 2011 season, Who is the TOP DAWG..

Will it be Brenham (again) or will someone knock them from their throne..

I'm going into this TOTALLY BLIND, but I will post my top 5 and see how everyone else feels, SO PLEASE DON'T ASK ME HOW I CAME UP WITH THIS.....BUT YOU CAN POST YOUR OWN TOP 5
Insiders looking in:
Seguin Lifegate, Alvin Living Stones, Lubbock Christ The King

5. Boerne Geneva - had a great 2010 season. I see them looking to advance beyond Bi-District.
4. Brownwood Victory Life - 9-3 last season, lost to Freddy.. NOT BAD
3. Dallas Tyler Street - They're ALWAYS in the mix come NOVEMBER/DECEMBER
2. Fredericksburg Heritage - had a great run in 2010
1. Brenham Christian - Until someone officially knocks them off IN DECEMBER

Can't totally disagree with your picks ...

I think our dist (Dist 3) will be a three-team race between Heritage (who had no seniors last year), Geneva (lots of bodies and now with Rush Cone as head coach) and Lifegate (who, although losing three key seniors, should be okay; also a tougher schedule with Kerrville Our Lady and Houston Emery Weiner will help). Unlike the 2010 campaign, whoever comes out of that fight will be stronger for it.

Dist. 1, with the additions of Lubbock Kingdom Prep and Christ Academy of Wichita Falls all of a sudden becomes a deep district. Christ the King and Victory Life are favorites here.

Brenham is the favorite, but they do lose a lot of key seniors. They still can benefit from the "we're used to winning" mentality, which I know got Freddy a fourth title. Living Stones and the rest of the district probably are a year behind.

Dallas Tyler Street is probably the odds-on favorite in D2.

If it's true that Freddy had no Sr's (returning everyone).

Well that's my TOP DAWG pick to win it all

Freddy vs Brenham - Freddy is D-2 Champion for 2011.

But I'm still wanting the games to play out since it looks like an nfl lock-out is fast approaching

Brenham and Freddy can't play in the State Finals unless one of them take second in their district. Just the way the brackets fall. Check the 2008 bracket when they met in Brenham. Freddy wins in a State-like game and goes on to 45 Duncanville. Last years' bracket with Brenham and Seguin in the semis. But with Boerne looking stronger with the addition of Coach Cone, Freddy may be second. That could set up a possible Freddy/Boerne State Final. Hmmmmm....

Brenham will be good with a proven coach, numbers, and proven success.

Tyler Street will be tough again. I think Pine Drive will be in the mix. Brownwood Victory also. Lubbock CTK? Seguin?

Unlike recent years where there has been a overwhelming favorite, this will be the year of proving it on the field and seeing how things settle out in December.

Pup and Dog, I need to pull up a new box of dawg treats for you boys.

I would say district 3 is a three team race and I think the third team is somebody who 45'd everybody in district the year before. Ain't gonna happen again (although we are doing audits of several kids' grades right now, just to check if any eligibility remains <just kidding>...) next year, but there is still some talent left in the Falcons. Gonna be different than the last two years and I'm not gonna put any grocery money on Lifegate running the table in the 2011 regular or district season.

Geneva is deep by enrollment numbers (I expect they will be D1 six man or D4 11 man in 2012), but only Lifegate and Heritage got past the first round last year (Geneva missed by a few points against Pine Drive). We got rolled by Brenham, but there were lots of folks that got that treatment last year, too. Castle Hills and Atonement have numbers and it's just an issue of learning how high school football is played for both of those guys, too.

I think Town East will be in the mix this year. We have a great freshman class coming up and didn't graduate any senior starters, so we will be ok for next year.

Ok, ok, ok. I'll add Town East to the mix. Remind me to tell Rabon not to put homecoming on that night you're at our joint.

Ummm. yeah...

as a coach, i shouldn't go against my guys... but Brenham (although losing some significant seniors) was not just top dawg in DII... but in almost all of six man... i mean wow... their back ups played every day against their starters... haha i think they'll be excited to play against kids that weren't that good...

I like our team again this year... might not win it all... but we'll make some noise... we're very fast again... Lost two hard hitters, and two of the fastest guys in the state... but we won the 4x1 and 2 with a future senior, junior, and sophmore... hard to stop speed...

Geneva is a great team..

Tyler street has one of the best, smartest coaches in DII.... he knows how to win and he gets his kids in the same mind set....

Don't count out happy hill if they play... pretty fast kids as well...

Oh yeah, shaking the dust off the six man message board. and I am ready for some football! I like Pine Drives program, I also like Freddy. You can't keep a program like that down to long. And I do agree that the Tyler coach is very smart. I think the playing field has been leveled a bit this year. Should be interesting.
Might be a bit soon to be thinking Town East.

John-Go ahead and tell coach Rabon to put us on the homecoming schedule, I would take that as an honor.
Box Dad-Not sure where we will finish this year, I believe we have the toughest district in Div.II. But, I will tell you this, we are nothing like the team we were last year. I haven't been this excited about a team in awhile. Can't wait for week 0 to get here.

We'd love to, Brother Robert the First, but Sept. 23 is too early for all the planning and that stuff. Will save it for a couple weeks later. Plus, I really get worried when folks volunteer to be homecoming opponent.

A friend of mine told me once when he took a new job, he noticed that all his road games that first year were the opponent's homecoming (which kinda tells you what type of team he inherited). But he went 5-1 in homecoming games that year, only losing his own homecoming. He never was a homecoming opponent on the road again ...

Watch out for Heath Fulton. I think they might sneak up on everybody this season

Freddy lost no players and made it to the semi finals last season.

I wont be making any picks right now

Who will knock off the champs?? Or will they Repeat?? Guess we will have to wait and see

I second Veezy's comments. watch out for Heath Fulton.they have one of the more underrated head coaches in TAPPS. their football program now has a plan!
just my opinion but what do I know!

Coach Peters

I am not saying that they will win state but I did get a chance to scrimmage them and a couple other D 2 schools. I also had a chance to see a few other teams this weekend. Coach Davis is right Town East will be in the mix somewhere. They have the size and speed to play with alot of schools.
