The big C - a nightmare in the making.

It's been in my family, it's been in yours. You had a friend or co-worker that had it or they had relatives that came down with it. I never paid that much attention to it. I always donated to a buddies live strong campaigns and threw the odd dollar or tow at the friends that tried to raise moneys for it.

But I never had it.

That crap changed in December. and it became a whole different thing.

It's a part of life and living but it changes you in ways you can't believe.

My way? it's like hemorrhoids, it’s a real pain in the A** but you got to get it took care of. I am trying to cope by putting thoughts on paper. Started a blog. Don’t know how long I can keep it up, it’s pretty boring after the initial spat of crap you go through. On the down side, the money I've spent so far, it would have bought me a pretty nice 50 cal Barrett

But check it out - http://fajitapetevsthebigc.blogspot.com/

Read from the bottom up - hang tough and I’ll be back with the rankings in August.

I don't know much that I can do besides for offer a few words of encouragement or throw a few bucks in a fundraiser if that becomes needed. And throw in a few prayers. If there's anything else, let me know. Get better soon and kick that crap in the butt.

Finding out how good my insurance is. They have forked over 50K so far and except for the extra I had to pay the dentist it's only hurting my beer money. Also helps that my boss at work told me not to bother taking PTO, he's cool with working when I can still drawing my salary. Then about a week later his boss finds out about my issue and takes me aside and tells me the same thing.

Really helps not having that issue to worry about. Today is D-day, killing starts in less than 2 hours :)

I can remember exactly where I was, who I was talking to (a client about a major networking proposal) when my Mom called. This in itself was kind of alarming because she never calls my cell phone. She asked if I could come help my Dad. He had a "stomach ache". I arranged to meet them at the local clinic and immediately left. The Doc thought his hernia had ruptured. They decide to send him on to the next town that has a hospital and imaging facilities. I ride in the ambulance with him and we joke about the situation.... much ado about nothing...whistling in the dark... The next hospital decides he needs immediate surgery so we are off in another ambulance to Scott & White. After spending 10 hours being shuffled around to various exam rooms in the ER, A Doctor comes in and tells us we really shouldn't be in the ER. He thinks Dad has Lymphoma and we should just go home, make appointments and start treatment. All this time my Dad has been in excruciating pain, so I kinda of gently remind the doc that we live over 100 miles away and could we at least do something for the pain. He leaves to investigate options and returns saying he will admit. We got to a room 14 hours after the initial call.
We meet with various Docs over the next few days and discover that we have been lost in the sea of paperwork. Literally lost. We finally got treatments scheduled and are released to return home.
Three days after this my mom is diagnosed with lung cancer (non-smoker). We get to start all over again............
Semper Fi, Pete. We are praying for your full recovery.

I heard through the grapevine a few weeks ago and have not known what to say... I wish you the best today and in your recovery.... yes, recovery... beat that mf-er.

Laissez les bons temps rouler... maybe that's a new cajun gamma ray man spice you come up with....

also, you need a link to the spices...

"an appliance, If I get a choice I want an ice maker." Good to see you keeping things in perspective. An ice maker might help with numbing but consider a blender or disposal, they would grind up the sushi plus. Never consider yourself a wus in this situation, it takes cojone's for a man or woman to face this. I paid my share for a "partial" appliance when they pulled but three teeth (same side, 2 top, 1 bottom). I still thank the Lord I've got a few chompers left but dread what could be coming down the road. If you've been shot at you know a little fear can be a good things at times. I've had a gun pulled and pointed in my direction (among others) but thankfully they didn't pull the trigger. When they looked off I ducked behind a car. We be thinkin bout ya and prayin too.

Pete,

My Mom threw off lymphoma over 25 years ago with one recurrence. It was a slow growing non Hodgkins variety, and her one recurrence was about 5 years after the initial treatments. It is beatable.

That stuff can run and duck but I don't think it will help. Fajita's ready to give it a good scuffin and send it packing. That stuff is in for a a$$ whooping of monumental proportions.

I think you're right. Pete is too contrary & hard-headed to let it beat him.

I've gotta go with OBK on this one. My mom got the stuff when I was 16. They kept it hid, "just having a cyst removed", wondered why dad was so upset. Had her around another 36 years.

Get better soon so I don't have to feel guilty about trashing your toy next season. Oh - and it would be cool if you got like three gold teeth to mix in with all the porcelain teeth. It would give you so much street cred. You could probably become a rap producer.

Seriously, kick this thing to the curb.

Thanks a lot. Your sister is still pissed at me. I have no idea why everybody is so nice to you. All you have to do is inject some of that rockgut you make and evrything will be fine. Oh did I thank you for getting my cigar smoking limited. You know there are times when it does not pay to know you. I have heard it from your mom and your sisters. So chief and I will be there spring break if not sooner. Knowing your sister the way I do we may show up this weekend so she can cook and shop for you.

That's one hell of a medical insurance policy if it will pay for strippers to help keep your spirits up. Is that a new Obama mandate? If it is, I might consider voting for the Swell Ole' Boy. ;-)

I think Pete might need some support this weekend. Especially about the time the strippers that his medical insurance policy is paying for show up. :) Coach, if you'll supply the cigars, I'll pick up some bourbon. Now, we just have to figure out what our excuses will be to leave our wives at home. :-)

BTW, I prefer the RP Series 1999 or the Monte Cristo Whites.
