This is third hand, but, an assistant coach told his Bible study group Shaver was blocked, fell on his rear, then fell onto his back and head, rolled to his side and started to get up but collapsed. Local paper says he was in a coma and passed when swelling of the brain cut off the oxygen supply to it. Coach (Cary not Gary) Fowler was DC at MSU 7 years and said he lived on the same street as the Shaver's. He had been DC & recruting coordinator 2 years at TSU & was interim HC until 3/8/10 when he was named HC. He succeded HC Sam McElroy who resigned in Februarty to become Defensive Line Coach for new HC Tommy Tuberville at Texas Tech. The team will attend services as a team.
