Congrats to the week 1 Player of the Week, Austin Hernandez - Crowell Wildcats.

Austin was all over the field last Friday, taking on the Strawn Greyhounds. He managed to go 13/19 passing for 353 yards and 9 TDs! On the ground, he rushed the ball 18 times for 75 yards and added two more TDs. Defensively he had a game too, totaling 10 tackles and returning a fumble recovery to the house for a defensive TD. As if this wasn't enough, he contributed on special teams by blocking 2 PATs.

Austin, congratulations!

Special thanks to Texas1aFan for the photos of Austin as well as to @Leman Saunders and @6manfanNate for helping select this week's winner.

Congratulations Austin.

Wow. Watched it online *. It was easy to see (and hear, the announcers calling his name so often) that Austin was the player of the game. But I didn't realize his full impact. Passing, rushing and scoop and score, involved in 12 of their TD's. That's 72 of their points. I must say it was a team effort though, good blocking and they had another RB that was really fast, catching some of those passes as well as 2-3 rushing TD's (think about it, 9 of Austin's 13 completions were for TD's). Another thing is they didn't score immediately every time they got the ball. Strawn slowed them down some, 2nd, 3rd, even a couple of 4th downs or 1st downs before they would score. But they were consistently persistent.
Congratulations to Austin and the Wildcats, well deserved.
Not to steal Austin's thunder. But I didn't make the connection until today's post above by WestTexasKid. The announcers kept mentioning (naturally as HC) Coach Parsley. Something sounded familiar, Parsley-Crowell. Ah ha. The state MVP on the 2014 undefeated team.

* Shout out to Julie Elrod at Microplex News. Thanks for coming back, you said no more at the end of last year. She has mastered modern technology. Clear sharp bright picture the whole game, showing virtually all of every play.
