Six-Man Team Map

Yesterday I noticed there was an issue with the weekly map when viewing on a device with a dark theme where the words on the map were almost impossible to read. So, while fixing that, I also came up with an idea of how neat it would be to have a map that displayed all the six-man teams instead of just a map to where all the games would be.

So, I spent most of yesterday afternoon and this morning working on a new six-man team map page, which will display something similar to this:

By default the map will display all of the teams, but I've also added tabbed links so that folks can also view only the teams in a specific league/division on the map.

Clicking on a team's logo will give you a pop-up box listing a little bit of information for each team, which will look like the following image. The rank/rating/record data won't be displayed until the new rankings come out, which should be around the first of August.

There are a few things of note concerning this map. First of all, this map uses the data that I have for locations of home fields. So if a team doesn't have a home field location listed in the database, they won't show up on the map. Also, because I'm using the team logos for the markers, if I don't have a good quality logo for a team here on the site, that team won't show up either.

If your team isn't showing up on the map, please reach out to me and I can let you know what information is needed to get them listed on the map.

I've always been fascinated by maps, so I love this. It would be cool if there was a way to select two or more options without having to select them all, though, like select just UIL instead of only DI or DII.

This is probably doable. I'll look into it when I can.

Howdy Mike,
I noticed Castle Hills was missing. I can provide you our school address or stadium, but our stadium is very misleading, as it is a public stadium and 45 minutes away from our school.

They're on there. You just have to zoom in a bit to see them because when the map is zoomed out the logo is covered up.
