Seguin Lifegate Division

Rumor has it they are dropping out of TAPPS!!! Sad. Year after year they fielded speedy, scrappy teams. And it really messes up scheduling in Division 3 District 3.

I am pretty sure you can choose to get out of TAPPS as you chose to get in. They do have specific rules and guidelines that must be followed and if not they will def kick you out of TAPPS. It does not make any sense for them to get out TAPPS to go to TCAL which makes it rather odd.

Yes, Lifegate is dropping out of TAPPS. No Violations have occurred. It was buy choice.

Maybe talent is drying up? TCAL is not near as competitive. Just not enough teams. Actually believe a few are making the transfer from TCAL to TAPPS. Just not very often the other way. Hate to see them leave. They always put together competitive programs. Either way Good luck Lifegate

Lifegate did in fact leave TAPPS and here is the reason why ...

TAPPS changed their rules mid-school year, without notifying anyone, and now all of a sudden they are allowing girls to play boy contact sports. This does not align with Lifegate Christian School's beliefs and mission and vision statements. In their district, a girl was being allowed to play on the boys b-ball team this season. Lifegate forfeited the game, in which the playoff season was forfeited as well. There were several discussions and two appeals filed by Lifegate. The outcome was that TAPPS did not allow Lifegate to play in the playoffs because of the district forfeiture, and TAPPS advised that they were not going to change their new rule about letting girls play boy contact sports.

Therefore, Lifegate elected to leave TAPPS and go to TCAL, effective the 2018-2019 school year.

Without getting into Lifegates School beliefs, some schools just can't field a team so they choose to let girls play. Some girls are just as good or better than many boys at basketball and baseball/softball. I personally do not feel this is an issue. They have girls wnba and girls play softball just like men play softball. They even have co-ed divisions in softball. Now if it were football it would be a different story. Though I have seen girls play and do well, it was primarily as kicker.
I just feel sorry for the Lifegate boys who battled all season long for it to be for nothing just because the other team had a girl playing. Just curious if the girl was a key player or bench player?
