Scrimmage #1 Recap

Notre Dame went to Gold-Burg on Saturday morning.

Gold-Burg only had 7 suit up, but played hard. ND's talent and depth eventually wore them down. I think each offense went 2 series of 30 plays and 1 series of 10 each.

The Knights' 1st & 2nd teams dominated on both sides of the ball. Good early outing for them.

Anybody else see any pre-season ball this weekend?

San Marcos looked great that is one big running back. They are a physical team. Did not see a lot of speed though. But boy are they powerful.

Live Oak looked strong also. They are solid at the qb position. Lots of kids suited up. Shocking that they didn't go up to division I. Definitely win the best uniform award

I've been wanting to go to a live oak game in Waco this year- if I go I'll give y'all my opinions on how they look (not uniform wise, although I agree they have awesome uniforms)
Physicality is hard to beat. There's nothing better than a pound on you all 4 quarters mentality. It really makes the other teams want to give up.

Anyone over there at WFND, can you give us some insight on last year's state game against SMHC and why you think you will do better this year?

I saw the state game and thought both teams were equal on offensive speed. But SMHC dominated us hands down in physicality. They were by far the best team we had played all year and had a great game plan. Well deserved title for them.

As to being better this year, the bar is set pretty high. I guess the only way to do that is to win the state championship. Getting back to the game will be a challenge in itself. Lots of great competition in DII I'm sure. Still, this team only graduated a couple of starters and I think have managed to replace the talent overall with some new additions.

Hopefully will be able to get a sense of where this team really is when they play UIL #2 Crowell in a few weeks.

From what I've seen via film, your statements are definitely true- y'alls offense capability was very quick and speedy, and man, I'll have to say whitten (#1 jersey) is one of the most shifty players and speedy players I've ever seen and he plays with some of the biggest heart out there.
Haven't seen anyone live for this season, although I hope to make it to a live oak game. Also, the districts from the Houston area have been much quieter this year than they usually are, what happened to the brenham teams of 09 and 10? Or pinedrive from 2011?

Yea I saw that state game and that #1 was a solid player. Anyone know if he is coming back or was he a senior last year? I also have heard several people say SMHC would be super physical as they were last year. I would have to say they are probably the favorites to repeat this year. I think they only lost a few seniors so they are going to be in solid form come week 1. Anyone heard anything on Huntsville or baytown? I followed their district last year and I believe Huntsville will be a solid team this year. That #1 is a stud spread back. As far as Baytown I believe they lost over half of their starters to graduation. Anyone heard anything on them? Bulverde looks really deep this year with close to 20 sidelined. Not many of those are seniors and not sure they have much size either.
