This is certainly a sad situation but the irony is that they Thought they were taking fake Xanax! Taking Xanax or its generic Alprazolam without a legally written prescription is a federal violation itself. Read the small print on the prescription bottle next time you receive a prescription for Xanax or a pain killer such as Tramadol, Tylenol with Codeine or Hydrocodone. It plainly says in print that is a federal violation to obtain those drugs without a legally written prescription. So not only were these young people in violation just having it in their possession but they were dumb enough to take the stuff, whatever it was, from someone that definitely didn't have their welfare in mind. Mix whatever they ingested with a small amount of alcohol and we are probably reading their obit! It happens all the time in Houston, San Antonio and the Fort Worth - Dallas Metroplex but it normally doesn't hit this close to home. So this is not just a individual or family problem but a community problem. If one person is peddling these drugs in your community they need to be outed and locked up. If they have a brother or sister peddling too they need to be locked up. And most of all parents need to step up and demand that their children honor their family by avoiding any and all drugs and alcohol regardless of who offers and social consequences. Give Life a chance.

Illegal drugs and abuse of prescription drugs is a cancer on society. I have personally seen it affect 2 great athletes. Thankfully 1 of the 2 was able to overcome this terrible disease and is a now a great asset to his community.

And another pretty idiotic take is that the author of the article seems to be condoning using drugs as a way to celebrate a victory. Or that is how it came across to me.
