Job Title: Head Boys’ Basketball Coach & Possible Boys’ Athletic Coordinator
Location: Roby High School – Roby, Texas
Job Type: Full-Time (Coaching Stipend + Teaching Assignment)

Job Summary:
Roby High School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic leader to serve as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach, with the potential to take on additional responsibilities as the Boys’ Athletic Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about building a successful basketball program while developing student-athletes on and off the court.
The ideal candidate will bring energy, vision, and a strong work ethic to help continue the development of our athletic program and build on the foundation already in place.
About Roby High School Boys’ Basketball:
Roby High School is a 1A program with a proud tradition of hard work, teamwork, and community support. Despite being a small school, our student-athletes are highly involved in multiple sports and extracurriculars. We emphasize character, accountability, and academic excellence. The basketball program has shown competitive promise and is looking for a coach who can lead our athletes to the next level while continuing to instill pride in being a Roby Lion.
Key Responsibilities:
As Head Basketball Coach:
• Lead all facets of the boys’ basketball program (practice planning, game strategy, offseason development).
• Align junior high and sub-varsity programs to create a consistent system across all levels.
• Instill a culture of discipline, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Monitor academic performance and eligibility.
• Engage with families, fans, and the Roby community.
As Boys’ Athletic Coordinator (if assigned):
• Oversee the boys’ athletic programs and support all coaching staff.
• Coordinate scheduling, transportation, equipment, and facilities
• Ensure UIL compliance and academic accountability.
• Promote multi-sport participation and work collaboratively with other programs.
Qualifications:
• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (or the ability to obtain one).
• CDL or willingness to obtain.
• High school coaching experience required; head coaching or coordinator experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to student-athlete development and academic success.
Teaching Field:
Open (No P.E.)
Salary and Benefits:
• Competitive salary based on experience and Roby CISD pay scale.
• Coaching stipends included.
• Additional stipend available for Athletic Coordinator role (if selected).
