I believe "close" was probably referring to miles, not points. Close, as in Lometa, Blanket, Santa Anna, Eden, Rochelle, etc., etc.

I love Jerry and the folks in Richland, but I remember he called us about scheduling a game several years back. Offered a few hundred bucks for travel and other goodies.

However, I figured it wouldn't cover the medical deductibles for the injuries our guys would have left the place with, so we declined his generous offer.

I sense a little animosity on this thread. Would be nice to see some competition result from this. I might drive to see an early season game at a "close to equal" spot agreed on by the coache's by a top team from the west. RS did this 2-3 years ago, and lost. " You've got to beat the best to be the best". Valley, BC, SC, WV, ???

Zephyr wanted a regular season game with Richland Springs. Zephyr coach suggested it, but it didn't happen. He had to settle with a scrimmage. That would have been one game filled. Any of you Coyote fans try to work on Coach Burkhart to make it happen. Zephyr would love to have a game with Richland for 2012. Would make for a game of the week most likely. Would be a fun one to watch.

I have talked to the Zephyr coach. He and Coach Burkhart had talked early on when they were first making out the schedule. At that time only a scrimmage could be agreed on so he continued filling out the Zephyr schedule and it was completed prior to Coach Burkhart's posting for games needed. It looks like no RS and Zephyr game next season. Disappointing for sure.
