Replacement Refs must go

Just cost GB the game with the worse call i have ever witnessed
bet the owners get together soon, that was just plain bad

Terrible call. But hey, the Packers should haven't have had the late hit that cost them an interception at the start of the previous Seattle drive. And all they needed was one stinkin' first down on their last possesion.

Terrible call. But don't put yourself in a position where a terrible call can lose the game.

I went to bed after the 8th sack of Aaron Rodgers. How many times did he end up on the turf? And they expect one call to make the difference in the game??

As said above, you have to play well enough to take the refs out of the game!!

Glad I called it a night early!!!

8. Not sacked at all in second half.

Seahawks only had 8 offensive plays in second half up to their last two drives.

By the way, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had a "You write the headline" contest on the game ... my favorite: "Wilson throws game winning interception."

The NFL is a $50 billion per year industry. And they're still using part-time officials? I agree with Steve Young. It's time to make being an NFL official a full-time job, where all they do is referee.

I'm about as anti-union as a person can be, but I think the officials have proven that no one can do what they do but them. Roger "the douche" Goodell went all-in and lost.

Heard that Clay Matthews posted Roger's office number on his facebook.

I truly cannot stand Goodell. He represents all that is wrong with football.

You know, as much as I believe the Packers were robbed last night, I'd have been more upset if the dimwits in the NFL overturned the game. Bad calls go with bad plays in making up how the game ends (and as I said, the Packers should NEVER have placed themselves in a position where a bad call could cost them the game). By the way, Wayne Elliott, the referee, is the assigning secretary for the Austin TASO chapter.

The Green Bay Packers are officially 1-2.

On Tuesday morning, the NFL offered its explanation of the events surrounding the Packers’ 14-12 loss to Seattle on Monday night that was marred in controversy following Russell Wilson’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate off a Hail Mary on fourth down with no time remaining.

Although the league conceded that the Seattle wide receiver should have been flagged for offensive pass interference on cornerback Sam Shields, it stood by the replacement officials’ decision to not overturn the touchdown.

The pass appeared to be initially controlled by Packers second-year safety M.D. Jennings, but was awarded to Tate under the ruling of simultaneous catch, which is reviewable but was ruled to be in Tate’s ultimate possession. Tate’s interference on his defender, Shields, is not a reviewable play.

“Referee Wayne Elliott determined that no indisputable visual evidence existed to overturn the call on the field, and as a result, the on-field ruling of touchdown stood,” the statement said. “The NFL Officiating Department reviewed the video today and supports the decision not to overturn the on-field ruling following the instant replay review.”

Furthermore, the result of the game is final.

This little prattle may be well and good but the FACT still stands it is a terrible terrible terrible call. I have not seen all of the egregious calls purportedly made by the "replacement guys" and really have my reservations about them being "all that" much worse than the regulars although there is always something to be said for training and experience.

All the above statement made by the Officiating Department is a "Save and Protect thine own AZZ" spin but you could expect no less.

The bad thing is there is more than than enough blame to go around.

1) The guy who called the touchdown made a horrendous call - no dispute on that
2) The other Ref #84 signaled touch back then abdicated without so much a whimper of resistance - inexperience showed there
3) The Referee who should have called the two officials aside - discussed it - review it and then had the balls to overturn the OBVIOUS wrong call. - Lack of control and presence by the Ref
3) The league for letting the situation get where it is.

Was this a bad call? One of the worst I have ever seen let go with all of the technology and review we have now. My question is how large would the uproar be if this call had been made by a regular officiating crew ? Could it happen ? Yes … we have seen any number of bad calls over the years.

This call happens to be THE STRAW most likely. The Jerry Jones' of the world are going to have to give up a small pittance of their billions made each year and pay the refs. The uproar will demand it and rightly so.

Actually lifegate, I think this was so bad and so obvious it should have been overturned. Since it was the last play of the game it would only be valid to that one play and would not have a bearing on any other possible outcome to the game. I have never been and never will be a Packer fan. ( Ice Bowl Memories ) but in this case they got wronged and it should be made right. I think Green Bay should be allowed to throw in a whole locker room of challenge towels on this one….

As stated above the NFL is a $50 billion a year business , who knows that people are still going to watch, attend games, and support their favorite team. Quick fix , If half of tv households tunes in to American idol versus watching a game then they would make a change mid game. I think it's dangerous and absurd to allow Lingerie football officials to officiate a professional game let alone multiple games over $3 million dollar argument

I thought it was one of the best calls in the history of the game. :-)

Give the refs a break, they did the best they could for being inexperienced with the speed of the NFL. It's not their fault that the experienced guys are not there, they are just trying to fill in the best that they can.

You know, I don't think hornkeeper likes me. First, he ranks my team #1 and now he likes this call.

But I still say bad calls are part of the game ... and I'm waiting to see how long it will take for fans, players and coaches to rag on the "professional" NFL refs when they blow a call ...

Watching the GB/NO game today, I think we need the replacement refs back. Damn, these guys got a raise?

I actually sent a text to a friend of mine (who uses my Packer tickets) during the game that if he wanted to, I could call the guy who was the ref Monday night and see if he could get his crew up there to finish the game.
