Mike Reed Heads Back Home

Leman Saunders

Six-man expert
Gordon hires Mike Reed as new AD/HC. Reed, a Gordon alum, is coming back into the 6-man world after a stint in 11-man as HC at Hamilton. In 4 years at Hamilton, Reed was 14-26 improving on win totals every year going 0-10, 3-7, 5-5, and 6-4 in 2017.

While at Hamilton under Reed student participation in athletics more than doubled across the board. In football alone went from 31 players in 2014 to 68 in 2017.

Reed stressed to me that Hamilton has been a great place for him and his family "but home is home and it's time."

Reed has had great success in six-man football at Rule and Throckmorton, winning back to back state championships at Throckmorton in 2011 and 2012 and finishing as state runners up at Rule in 2006, 2007 and at Throckmorton in 2010.

Gordon is coming off a 2-8 season which was the schools lowest win total since a 1-9 showing in 2009.

Reed was in the Class of 95 with myself and Shanon Hunt. We went 11-1-1 in 94, losing to Zephyr in the quarterfinals. Happy to have him back home.
