Knox City’s depth prevails

Knox City won only three events at the Disricts 11-12 Class 1A track and field meet Friday but it was enough to win a tight meet, one in which only eight points separated first and fifth places.
The Greyhounds finished two points ahead of Water Valley, despite Dillian Doss’ victories in the 1600 and 3200.
The Knox City girls finished third, one point behind Sterling City (71 points) and five behind champion Guthrie (76).
Shaley Shipman led Guthrie with wins in the long jump, triple jump and 400 and as a member of the 1600 relay team. Shelby Gutierrez helped Knox City’s cause by winning the 100 and 200 and running a leg on the winning 400 relay team.
Knox City also won the 800 relay.
