It's official: Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Maroon 5 to play Lambeau opener
After weeks of speculation, it's finally official.
Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5 will play the "NFL Kickoff 2011" concert outside Lambeau Field before the Green Bay Packers' Sept. 8 opener against the New Orleans Saints.
The concert will take place on a stage adjacent to Lambeau Field, continuing the NFL's recent tradition of big-name musical acts playing before the first game of the season. The Dave Matthews Band, Taylor Swift and Harry Connick Jr. performed in New Orleans last year.
The concert begins at 6:30 p.m., an hour before kickoff, and will be shown on NBC's pregame show and on the NFL Network.
The event opens to the public at 3:15 p.m. Fans will be able to enter the concert site from Holmgren Way and watch the performances along Armed Forces Drive.
Fans do not need a ticket to the game to attend the free concert.
Those who are not planning on attending the game may register at www.1iota.com for a chance to be a part of the casted audience that will watch the concert on South Oneida Street adjacent to the stage. It is advised that fans participating in the casted audience do not have a game ticket, as they will remain at the concert site for a live TV hit leading into the kickoff of the game.
