Good article in the Sunday paper about why many colleges are making the move up in sports (D2 to D1, etc.).
Three guesses, and the first two don't count. Yeah, it's money ... but the sports program is not what makes the money, it actually loses more money (for mere mortals; there are a few exceptions to the rule, most notably a well-known state university in our state capital), but it's money generated elsewhere -- students, donations, funds from NCAA programs, etc.
Business of sports articles always interest me.
