How overrated was your team?

Here's a quick look at the teams that have dropped the most in the first two weeks of the season...

Tomball Christian Homeschool (1-1) -77.91
Seguin Lifegate (1-1) -66.59
Athens Christian Prep (0-2) -64.5
Oakwood (0-2) -52.51
Rockwall Heritage (1-1) -51.86
Lazbuddie (0-2) -46.57
Bulverde Bracken Christian (1-1) -45.09
Savoy (0-2) -45.02
Houston Mount Carmel (0-1) -44.54
Stephenville Faith (0-2) -43.86
EP Jesus Chapel (0-2) -38.61
Longview Trinity (0-2) -38.1
Hedley (0-2) -34.58
Sidney (0-1) -33.19

Tribe is not on your list but in my opinion was probably ranked to high. Tribe lost 5 really good seniors and the injury bug has hit two of our game changers. However, with hard work our young guys are determined to make a good showing! Only time will tell!

I believe Stephenville Faith is in the same boat, other than the injuries. Not sure what's up with Tomball; I believe they are playing 6 Man JV and Varsity while fielding an 11 Man team as well. Athens has not fielded a team in 3 years so i'm not surprised that they dropped 64.5.

Thanks for all your hard work Granger!

Granger ... As we've discussed last week and many times before, especially in private schools, early season rankings aren't very predictive, especially if a team has a lot of changes (graduations, transfers, coaching changes, school changes, lots of reasons).

Some of those 0-2 teams are 0-2 because they played some pretty tough competition. Lots of thinking behind scheduling. Some want to play tough teams and get tested, others like some weaker competition to build confidence for later district games. Or you can go somewhere in the middle.

I used to remember when Al McGuire coached buckets at Marquette while I was in college (a cousin of mine played for his 1977 NCAA title team). Al would always load up his schedule with what he called "cupcakes" for the first three weeks or so, getting six or eight early wins before he would have a run of tough opposition, where he usually won more than he lost.

We'll find out where everybody is in a couple weeks.

How long will the computer realize that Borden Co. doesn't have it this year. I predict BC will be down to 53 after this week loss. They will have the biggest drop in rankings ever recorded after this season is over. Finish around 103. If lucky.

Get in all the BC bashing while you can... It may be a "rebuilding" year for BC ( just like every team will experience) but BC is built on tradition and that tradition is winning.. BC is young this year so beware of the seasons to come.

I answered the question. At the beginning of the season I said BC was rated wayyyy to high because of the kid that transferred, kids that quit because they didn't want to lose, and kids hurt. Now that is all that was told to us by BC parents. Just repeating what they said. They know the problems. Before the season started. But the kids that stuck it out are trying hard. None of us here know the coach.

Abilene Christian favored over Rockwall by 45 is way to high. Definitely a rebuilding year for them. Barely beat Azle and Newcastle just played bad. Plus I don't think they make it past halftime against Water Valley. Don't be surprise if Midland Trinity wins district.

As a Savoy fan, we were way overrated. To me we lost leadership that hasn't been replaced. We have a good group of seniors, and they are trying to figure out problems, but haven't got there yet. These young men have to learn that it's great to be written about in the news, but that doesn't transfer to the field. I think that they have found that the red dot is on thier backs and they have to learn to handle the pressure.
Since we haven't had as much success as most, these young men don't know how to deal with ratings and the like. Too many bought into the hype. They have gotten to see some teams that have been around and have the athletes to compete. I just hope the coaches and them can figure it out. I do believe they will.

At least Savoy just has to win 1 game in District to make it back to the playoffs, and likely face another weak 1st round team.

That's not to say that Gordon wasn't overrated to begin with, basically 1 returning starter, entire new coaching staff, freshmen starting, and I believe rankings should be based on the last team that stepped on the field. Time will tell for everyone. We have a tough road ahead, and it looks like again we will be facing District 9 twice in the first 3 rounds, and those boys look ready to play. I imagine the 3rd and 4th place team in District 9 could easily beat half the teams in the east playoffs. Possibly even the last place team.

Coach Richey Must Have Picked On JAFO As Kids

I think JAFO is like an O'Donnell (sp?) fanboy. Sure, the town spawned Hoss Cartwright - requisite headnod of respect - , but no one from O-town is old enough to remember who he even was - so it makes JAFO look kind of petty and bitter, like a stood-up prom date.

Double points if you know what college Hoss attended.
