The Clinic Staff – 18 Total Coach of the Year Awards:
Doug Porter: A long time coaching veteran, this Wheaton College graduate’s coaching career includes stops at the high school level in the states of Illinois and TEXAS! Coach Porter broke into the college coaching ranks at West Texas A&M as an assistant coach before going on to success at other schools. As a collegiate head coach, Coach Porter has won EIGHT Coach of the Year Awards and made a reputation as a groundbreaking innovative offensive coach, building the women’s basketball program at Olivet Nazarene University into a national power in the small college ranks.
Rusty Rogers: Winner of 2 NAIA Women’s National Championships in 1995 and 1996 with his Western Oregon University women’s basketball teams, Coach Rogers has won over 500 career games (296 at the collegiate level). Coach Rogers was also named the 1995 and 1996 NAIA National Coach of the Year for women’s basketball. Coach Rogers collegiate teams qualified for post-season national tournament play 12 out of the 16 seasons he coached at the collegiate level. Coach Rogers has also coached at the high school level in Arizona and in Texas in his 24 year coaching career. In addition to being the head coach of the Lady Mustangs basketball team, Coach Rogers is the Associate A.D. at HCHS.
Ron Crandall: A master motivator and teacher, Coach Crandall has had tremendous success in the 6 seasons he has served as a head varsity coach during his 13 year coaching career, sending numerous players on to the collegiate level. Crandall has had head coaching stints at Taylor High School of Katy ISD and Houston Christian. Coach Crandall is the Owner/Director of the highly successful Crandall Basketball Camp and Crandall Basketball Academy where Coach Crandall’s skills as a master teacher of fundamentals are put to good use.
Kevin Sivils: An 8 time Coach of the Year Award Winner, Coach Sivils amassed 464 career wins as a varsity basketball coach. His teams qualified for the state play-offs 19 times in a 22 year career as a head coach, advancing to the state semi-finals three times. Coach Sivils system produced 2 High School All Americans, 18 All State Players, and over 80 All District Players. Coach Sivils has spoken as a clinician in numerous states and traveled as far as the Central African Republic to speak. Coach Sivils is currently the Assistant A.D. at Houston Christian High School.
