Garden City really better than Rankin?

In the interest of stimulating some intelligent/meaningful conversation on the topic, I pose this question, is GC really as good as, or better than, Rankin? I KNOW Rankin is good, but GC has sort of slipped up on folks (including me) and are actually ranked higher. We all know rankings don't mean anything and the GC/Rankin game is a long way off but what is the opinion of the District 5 faithful? Is GC returning to the powerhouse days of a few years ago or are they just overhyped after beating up on a down Borden County squad and giving Ira a good fight? Can they really contend for the District 5 title with a tough Rankin team that sent Meadow packing? What say ye OBK? Are your Bearkats back?

I'd like to think so.

But I wish I knew. I have not seen them play in person since 2009 and have not talked to anyone there this year.
 
The answer to your question in my opinion...is NO! GC is good and better than I expected...but they are not a top 10 team Id say...but close to it...Rankin on the other hand is for sure a top 10 team. I think Ira at #2 is what's holding GC up that high in the rankings...Ira is good but #2???
 
I have actually seen GC play and they are no doubt a top 10 team as of now. If they stay healthy they will continue to impress folks. I have not seen Rankin play this year so I can't comment on who I think is better. We will find that out when they play each other.

Even before this game it appears GC will be the district champs in D1D5.
Ira down? maybe a little

Rankin down? a lot from last year but still a good team. Not basing this on scores alone.
I watched Rankin in a 3way scrimmage. Good Team, one stud running back that also likes to hit.
As a team however, just not the same as past few years. WV will get Rankin in Rd 1.
 
Does anyone from GC post here besides OBK? Does he have to be the voice of all Glasscock County? I know there are great fans out in GC because I've seen them with my own eyes... do they not have computers out there? No internet maybe? C'mon Garden City Bearkat fans, let's hear from you.

Now that I've got that out of my system... I don't know if I buy Ira being down. I know they lost Morris but they just reloaded with little brother. Maybe they're not as good as last year but that's still pretty good. As far as Rankin goes, I'll acquiesce to your opinion SimplyPut, as I haven't seen them play but I'm sure they're still as ornery as ever and will be no fun for anyone in the playoffs.
 
I had the chance to see the Ira and GC game as far as being better than Rankin I can't say. But it should be an interesting game GC might of played Ira close but I knew Ira had it in the bag. Regular season but Ira shouldn't be number 2 once playoffs comes around they seem to have a monkey on there back every year.
 
I actually know of a few people from Garden City on here, but no I don't see them post as much as the norm.
But on the other note, I have been fortunate enough to have watched Rankin against BC and Garden City against both Ira and Ropes. Rankin is a good team, top 10 worthy, but they are being carried by only 2-3 kids in my opinion. You look at stats and you will only see 2 or 3 names. What I keep seeing from GC is they have multiple scoring threats with 4-5 of their starting 6. Against Ropes they even had some fairly dangerous back-ups come in and change the outcome of the game in their favor.
So what i'm saying is, if GC can handle the 2-3 Rankin game changers, they should take the District 5 title going into a pretty good spot into playoffs. IMO
But I think we can all say this will be a game that will be fought to the death till the fourth quarter hits 00:00.

No, I meant what I said. You had seen them play, I hadn't. I was going off of reputation and the fact that Rankin always brings it but you had actually watched the scrimmage so you had a legitimate opinion on the matter. So, who are you picking in the "other" big game? Ira vs. T-Rock = Clash of the 6-man Titans.
 
Yeah, here's one for you Footballfan06... how do you think Garden City will fare when they take on the winner of Ira/T-Rock? You think it will be 68 - 20? Enjoy it while it lasts.
