Dear New,
I have a very long response to your post, but this is the short version.
I am glad you and your family enjoyed watching Heritage play and learning a bit about Texas Six-man Football. But remember - you were watching a TEAM. Yes, I am very proud of Thomas but I am no more responsible for his ability to play well on the field than he is for his team winning as many games as they have. Okay, there is that little deal we call BIRTH, but hey, I am not saying a word about that---uh uhu -- no, not me!
I do believe the opening comment (concerning shoulders) on this thread lit a fire in the team's belly. That was a hard comment for some of them to swallow.
I dearly love the Ramsays! Actually, my dear youngest son's full name is Thomas Ramsay Hierholzer. I named him after Tom Selleck and Dr. John Ramsay! So, he is a Ramsay, too...lol  Well, in name, that is
Yes, Thomas has accomplished a good little bit the last half of this season. ( I was very ill the first half and unable to attend any of those games.) When I think back to one of his touchdown runs -- a kick off run back for a TD -- Thomas had an open field to run down because his teammates had tackled the players they were suppose to and all but one of the opposing team had a  Heritage Eagle  lying on top of them. LOLOLOL
It would take hours to express to you what Coach Shipman means to the boys who play for him. Coach's intense and strict discipline at practice and on the field, his walk with Christ - which he shares openly, daily - including when he has to humble himself and apologize, his leadership, and his amazing humility make the boys and all of us parents strive to be more Christ-like.
Our boys are very close friends on and off the field. They go to school together. They go to church together. Some go to Young Life together. They go to Bible Study together. They stay at each other’s homes on the weekends and even during the week if they have a big project due for school they are working on together. They are more like siblings than friends.
Their parents go to church together. They pray together. They have Bible Study together. They have weekly dinner nights in each other’s homes. They vacation together. The list goes on and on and on and on ...
Our boys are very close to each other and our families are very close. If you ever watch the Heritage fans after any game, we linger for at least 45 minutes. Most of the time, we have made plans to eat together after the game. We just really, really like each other. LOL
Simply put, we love Him, because He first loved us. I John 4:19
All of this to say - these boys are and will always be a team. There will different roles to be played: some will be stronger, some weaker; some slower, some faster; some will be wise, some will be foolish; some will teach with their words, others will teach with their hearts; some will lead boldly and strong, some will lead quietly and firm.
Like our body, we cannot all be the head! Yet, that little toe down there sure means a bunch ~ especially if you stump it but good. As long as we all work together, do the job we have been assigned (with a smile), never give up (something about running a race ~~ ring any bells?) , and above all -- HONOR OUR LORD, JESUS, then Godspeed.
I pray for both teams as they and their coaches prepare for Saturday. May each team play to the best of their ability. And as always, we pray for the safety of all the players on the field and everyone who travels to the game that all may be blessed with safety.
Under His Construction,
Eagle_#7_Mom
