The Six-Man Football Writers Association is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for a financial assistance award to students in the six-man academic community.
The Don Hardin Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance to individuals who intend to continue their education in community colleges, colleges, universities, trade schools or approved apprentices programs.
The Don Hardin Memorial Scholarship is based on financial need, academic performance, leadership potential, and participation in extracurricular activities.
The Six-Man Football Writers Association will award scholarships without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria.
Eligibility:
1. Scholarship candidates may not be an immediate family member of any officer, director, employee or committee member of the Six-Man Football Writers Association
2. Must be a graduating senior of a six-man school
3. Must have an overall GPA of 85 or greater
4. Must have no major disciplinary issues
5. Must be nominated by a coach, teacher or school administrator
Application guidelines:
1. The application should identify the student, their participation in the six-man community as well as other civic involvement in church and community.
2. The applicant should forward a personal essay, 500 words or less, on one of the following topics:
What role their religion has played in their life
What being a student is a six-man school means to them
Who in their school/town has been an positive influence on their life.
The application packet should contain other such information that the applicant or the individual who has nominated them feels that can help the nomination committee in their review process. This information should include at least the following;
A statement of need
List of awards/honors
The student’s plans for post high
school education
