San Antonio Town East Christian 2-0; win over San Antonio Winston 28-23 (away)
Fredericksburg Heritage 0-2; lost to San Antonio FEAST Homeschool 35-13 (away)
San Antonio River City Believers 0-2; lost to Bastrop Tribe Consolidated 60-14 (away)

Week 2:

Friday, September 11

5:00 San Antonio River City Believers @ San Antonio River City Christian
7:30 Marble Falls Faith @ Fredericksburg Heritage
7:30 San Antonio Town East Christian @ Corpus Christi Annapolis Christian
7:30 Seguin Lifegate Christian @ Bastrop Tribe Consolidated

I'm picking the district to go 4-0 on its opponents this week ...

I think the only team in a close game will be believers... I'm not sure how good Corpus is but i think Town East will win by double digits... this isn't a pick'em forum so i won't say more but I think everybody wins but believers.

Don't know much about Annapolis either, but we only beat them by 6 last year. They lost a close one to NYOS this year, and I hear they're pretty good this year. I don't expect a blow out by either team. I will just be happy if we can pull out another close one.

As you know, it's not my style to boast and brag, but you might remember I picked the district to go 4-0 this week.

Seguin Lifegate Christian (3-0) defeated Bastrop Tribe Consolidated 45-33
San Antonio Town East Christian (3-0) defeated Corpus Christi Annapolis Christian 48-26
Fredericksburg Heritage (1-2) defeated Marble Falls Faith Academy 34-32
San Antonio River City Believers (1-2) defeated San Antonio River City Christian 45-19

Note: The Believers win is the first win for this school's new football squad. Congrats to Coach Jim Bergeron and his squad on the first victory ... Also, the Lifegate win puts the Falcon football program all-time record back above .500 (35-34 since 2003).

shall we start calling you john the greek now? thats probably over the head of most kids these days, but i am sure john knows who i am referring to. good call john, we are all on pins and needles wondering what your predictions are for next week.

on the other hand, I was about as off as i could be. Town east did win by double digits BUT Lifegate didn't so what i thought they were going to do.... and believers won by more than any of us.... haha good job guys

John if 45-33 isn't double digits then what is?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But our kids sure walked on that field thinking that they'd be in a restaurant eatin' fine food after a 45 point halftime win.

Was close even deep into the fourth quarter; the Bastrop kids were catching everything short of the flu in the first half and couldn't catch a cold in the fourth quarter.

A wet, muddy field is a great equilizer ... and Tribe has some real hosses ... 1, 11 and 19 drove us nuts all night.

Remembering what happened to Jimmy the Greek, thanks, but no thanks.

Stay tuned.

the problem is they walked on the field just assuming that the game was going to be given to them.... i tried to tell them over and over again that it wasn't the case but... i close game like that was hopefully humbling...

Hmmm, our kids didn't seem overconfident to me. They came out hard and jumped to a 2 TD lead...not the usual result of overconfidence. And then they settled into a long, tough fight. They knew we couldn't run wide, juke and jive and throw the ball like we normally do, so they went right at them and beat them. We had seven available players for most of the 2nd half. Bastrop is a very, very tough team and played hard. Real hard. That was just a good football game and it may not have been any different on a dry field. Not buying the overconfidence made the spread closer theory.
