Another outstanding game between two excellent teams. on a perfect night for a football game, especially a State Semi-final game. The final score was nearly the exact same score as before when these two teams met - CH scored 65 in both games with SL scoring 52 this time instead of the 56 they scored last time.

I would guess Castle Hills would consider it a great TEAM win. Dante Johnson continued his incredible run through the playoffs. He was again the best player on the field, breaking tackle after tackle, stiff arming would be tacklers and then out running everyone into the end zone. My guess is Dante ran for 9 TDs and possibly 350 yards. Michael Chairez, Matt Friemel, Ethan Leos and Jacob Sily provided excellent blocking the entire game and slowly wore down the very quick and aggressive SL defense. Quarterback Andrew Nava opened the scoring with a 45 yard TD bomb to Ethan Leos to start the game and led an offense that again played an entire game without committing a turnover. This is the second consecutive playoff game in which CH has not committed an offensive turnover.

SL nearly won this game with an excellent kicking game, recovering at least two on side kicks and kicking 5 of 7 extra points. For a long stretch in the second half, it seemed these extra points might be the difference. They were also outstanding in blocking the CH extra points allowing only one made extra point kick.

QB Kenny Cramblitt was again difficult for CH to stop with superb runs and good passing. I would guess he threw for at least 5 TDs with many of these passes accurately connecting with receivers that were well covered. Josh Dodson is one of those unsung heroes that does all the dirty work of blocking and tackling along with making very significant receptions at key points in the game. His injury in the second half certainly slowed down the SL offense and weakened their defense. The speed and quickness of SL had CH off balance all night.

The Castle Hills defense was led by Dante Johnson and Ethan Leos. I have no idea how many tackles they each had but I would assume they were both in double digits. They also each had key interceptions that swung the momentum of the game in the second half. Micah Allmond provided good pressure on the QB and strong tackling throughout the game. Young defensive backs Luke Schmitt (FR) and Jacob Siley (SOPH) were also excellent in their defensive back roles. I know the CH defense was very concerned in the second half when these two starting DBs were out due to injuries, but CH got great play from two freshmen reserve defensive backs - Seth Gomez and Grant Hansen. The fact that CH had four Freshmen and one Sophomore play extended time in such a big game beckons that good things may continue for CH in the upcoming years.
