At Lincoln High School in San Jose, California, the cheerleading squad needed to raise money to go to a national competition. So they did what many high school sports teams do around the country: they held a car wash in a school parking lot.

Hold up, not so fast, said local officials.

The city stepped in and shut down the car wash, saying the runoff is considered a pollutant according to local water discharge regulations.

The city's environmental services department threatened to issue a fine to the school if the cheerleaders held another car wash, explaining that the runoff water could "harm wildlife and habitats in the creeks" if it goes into a storm drain.

A member of the cheer squad, Bailey Nedved, and her mother spoke to Elisabeth Hasselbeck this morning on Fox and Friends.

California. Is this surprising news to anyone? I remember a day that I would
have been astonished at such a story. Not the case in this day and time.

Anywhere else, even here in Blue Illinoisy, those EPA goons would have been lynched by a mob of crazed dheerleader Moms.

I remember taking an alternative teaching certification course a few years ago. The first day, the speaker was an administrator from a DFW area ISD, talking about how to get jobs in school districts and pointed out that women might find it easier if they were willing to do duties such as cheerleader sponsor.

She had done that in her earlier days as a teacher and said, cheerleader sponsor actually is a pretty good job, "if all the girls were orphans."
