Billy Barnett Passes Away

Sad news today as I was informed that former six-man coach and TSMCA Hall of Famer Billy Barnett passed away yesterday. He coached the Christoval powerhouse of the late 80s and 90s, as well as at Sands and Dell City and up until his recent retirement had been the Superintendent at Irion County. He was beloved by many of his former players. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Sad to hear. Always enjoyed my time with him. First met him in Big Spring at the Dell City-Panther Creek State Championship in 1993.

Service details: 10 AM Thursday at Johnson’s with burial to follow in Sherwood cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 at the funeral home

Hard nosed good West Texas guy right there. Enjoyed knowing him when we played against him when he was at Sands. Rest In Peace Coach Barnett.
