Apple Springs, Texas (KETK) - Football is finally back!
While many high school teams here in East Texas dusted off their old pads and helmets, the Apple Springs Eagles hit the field with some brand new gear.

Last summer, Manning and Riddell teamed up.
Their mission?
To award 18, $10,000 grants to schools across the country.
"I think 18 was probably on purpose knowing Peyton (Manning) was involved in it," said Cody Moree, Apple Springs Athletics Director and Superintendent.
To get this grant each school filled out an application explaining how they ran a "smart football program" and why their school deserved it.
"We talked about being heat smart, hit smart and head smart," said Moree.
Apple Springs was the smallest school on the list and not only that, but they were the only six-man team on the list.
