In San Marcos Academy's inaugural season, in 2020, they made it to the semi-final game in TAPPS D1, losing to the eventual state champion Texas School for the Deaf, 28-39. In 2021, with most of their starting line-up back, they made a state championship run, losing to Emery/Weiner in the TAPPS D1 state championship 69-24. In 2022, the Bears won their first district championship game against Castle Hills 64-55, and making it to the second round of the playoffs. In 2023 the Bears made yet another playoff appearance, losing to another eventual state championship team, Covenant Christian. They lost that game 68-20.
