Covenant hits a 30(?) yard FG with :33 left to take a 68-66 lead. Bracken hits a pass down the sideline to Covenant 26 with :08 left. Covenant picks off the final play. Amazing game.
Just saw the Summit/NBCA game had to be stopped due to Summit only having 4 players. No idea if it’s covid related, hopefully they’re able to finish the season.
Off the top of my head, the following schools have either closed or no longer play six man:
Amarillo Arbor
Amarillo Holy Cross
Arlington Texas Leadership Charter
Austin Brentwood Christian
Balch Springs Christian
Boerne Geneva
Carrollton Christian
Clear Lake Christian
Dallas First Baptist
Dallas...
I know they have been in the past, no idea what their enrollment is now. I do know there’s a number of private schools in their immediate area - Prestonwood, Parish, Trinity, ESD, Jesuit, and Greenhill.
Great to be back! Should be an interesting season. Looks like we have some former 11-man teams joining us this year:
Carrollton Prince of Peace
Pasadena First Baptist
Houston Westbury Christian
Beaumont Legacy Christian
Some new schools:
Austin Sterling Classical
Taylor St. Mary’s
Prosper...
I agree with your original point, though. This season would have been a perfect excuse to consolidate to 2 divisions. The majority of playoff teams receiving byes while others have to play doesn’t seem like an even playing field. However, I can understand the goal was to reduce travel with all...
It looks like Galveston O’Connell went 0-8 in 11-man this year, including forfeiting the final two games of the season. Good for them for moving to six man. Sherman Texoma and Kennedale Fellowship were listed as 11-man in 2018’s realignment, however, I can’t locate any game results for either...
Also noticed they show Kennedale Fellowship and Sherman Texoma dropping down from 11-man.
And this might be nitpicking, but would it be so hard for TAPPS to list schools by their full names instead of things like “NBCA” “ETCA” “Baytown” and “Bellville”? Just seems unprofessional to me.
