They started playing in 1930 and played each other twice a year, once in non-district and once in district until the UIL told them they couldn't do that any more, sometime in the 1950s. There wasn't a game played in 1942 because of World War II. They didn't play each other from 2004 - 2018...

    Small 2A Watch 2025

There was a story about Valentine in the San Angelo paper several years ago. It was stated that Valentine still has a school because of the travel distance to another school. Those kids would be traveling 40 - 50 miles one way to go to school and it was felt that was too much of a hardship for...

    Aquilla Vs Gordon

If Aquilla even makes it there. Chester is looking pretty good. They also have 5 starters back on both sides of the ball. They have also won several games by the mercy rule, including Union Hill and Coolidge.

    Aquilla Vs Gordon

Does anyone remember Jack Pardee? He played 6 man at Christoval in the 50s, played fullback and linebacker for Texas A&M, where he was named All-American, then played fullback and linebacker for the LA Rams for 13 years and was all-pro, then 2 years for Washington, where he was also all-pro...

    Goodbye!

When this first started, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. But, as time went along, I found myself actually looking forward to the posts . Some were more funny than others, but still provided some entertainment. I think most members, and non-members, enjoyed the post, except for a few...

    Aquilla

Every year, there are supporters and maybe some players that come in and brag about their team and crow about how bad they beat other teams and how great they are. That naturally draws attention and causes backlash and banter from supporters of other teams. The team at the top of the list this...

Zephyr on the SEC agenda 11/10

Something that caught my attention was these girls don't all live in Richland Springs. 1 or 2 of them live in San Saba, a couple of them live in Brownwood. And from what I understood, not all of them play basketball. It was mentioned that it appeared they were following the coach's daughter...

Way Way Way Way Way to Early 26-28 Alignment Predictions D1

Something I found that surprised me is Knippa. They are very close to moving into 11 man. They may have 2 more years of 6 man, then will be too big after that. Their Jr High and elementary is averaging 32 students per class.

Way Way Way Way Way to Early 26-28 Alignment Predictions D1

I looked up the enrollment numbers from last year and High Island only had 53 with less 8th graders than seniors. Unless they had a lot of students move in, then they should have 50 or less this year. Runge would have slightly more, around 54 and Penelope would have around 63 or 54. Again...

    Scheduling Games

That makes sense, but it still seems a little premature since schools don't even know for sure what district they will be in and in some cases, even what division.

    Scheduling Games

I'm seeing a lot of posts looking for games for 2026. Isn't this a violation of UIL rules? I see that this is in the rules: A school may be disqualified from district honors for up to two years in that sport for contracting games prior to finalizing the reclassification and realignment by all...
