Plano's Faith Lutheran School begins first-ever football program

This year, Faith Lutheran School in Plano has started a six-man football team, the first football program at the private school since its inception as a four-year-old preschool in 1971.

Principal Timothy Merritt will serve as the head coach along with assistant coach Mike Sparks, who played running back at Plano East.

Other assistant coaches include school parents Phillip Klein and Jon Krause. Also on staff is Eric Horst, an East junior and former Faith Lutheran student, who will be on the sidelines to help manage the squad.

The school's team is in the Christian Schools Athletic Fellowship League and will compete against other small private schools in North Texas. “Six-man football is fast-paced, exciting, and high scoring,â€
